In 1874, Father Theodore Butler purchased a home and a lot in Augusta, Georgia, for $10,000.00 to construct a building to be used as a church for the Catholic population and a school for children of all denominations. A simple Victorian structure served as a temporary facility for the church until work could begin on a larger, more significant building for the group. The first bricks were laid for Sacred Heart Church in 1897 and the church opened with the first service on December 2, 1900. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building features towering twin spires, graceful arches, fifteen distinctive styles of brickwork, ninety-four stained glass windows, a barreled vaulted ceiling, and intricately carved Italian marble altars. Unfortunately, due to a number of factors, the last mass was held in Sacred Heart on July 3, 1971.

Sacred Hearts Cultural Center was the perfect venue for our wedding. Their communication throughout the planning process was timely, courteous, and professional. The quality of their work and the value they provided was exceptional - the venue was absolutely beautiful and unique, and everything was executed perfectly. They were very accommodating to our needs, and the staff was extremely helpful in making our special day seamless. Sacred Heart is truly the most beautiful venue I've ever seen, and we are so grateful to have celebrated our wedding there.

Amy and Dean are super to work with. They make sure your day is the way you want and planned. They also have so many different areas to choose from for your wedding ceremony and each and every one of them are beautiful. The antiques around there property are also such an added attraction. But give them a call. Amy is awesome and so sweet. I love going there to do a wedding because I know everything will be perfect and a delight. She has several wedding packages to choose from to meet your budget needs but willing to add or adjust to them as needed. Their son also works super as a bartender if you are in need of one of them.

Hartley House is a beautiful venue that's absolutely worth the extra drive - Especially for history buffs! This property is a slice of southern history that can't be replicated. Hartley is unique Hartley and that's one of my many personal favorite qualities about the venue. Crystal is so easy to connect with and very professional with the booking process. The house is currently undergoing some renovations, but she communicates her vision to clients clearly. I'm so excited to see everything come together!
