Hi, I'm Brooklyn — the photographer behind Brooklyn Kate Photo. I fell in love with wedding photography for the in between moments: the nervous laugh before the ceremony, the glance no one else catches. That's what I chase. I shoot on a mix of digital and film, giving my work a timeless, editorial feel over a trendy one. I recently moved my business to Chicago, though I still travel for destination weddings all over the world! Every wedding is different, and I love learning each couple's story first. I'm a California native with a wanderlusting soul. I grew up in the snowy mountains of Lake Tahoe and spent my teenage years in the rainforests of Costa Rica before returning to the West Coast of the United States to study the art of wedding photography and earn my BFA with Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California.

I took up photography at the ripe age of 11 with a Polaroid I borrowed from an aunt. It quickly became my sketchbook as I worked to capture stills of the world and people around me. Those images have continued to pay emotional dividends throughout my life, helping me better understand what I have now come to see through a new scope. They are grounding, melancholic, funny and beautiful. Some of my most cherished possessions.

My passion for photography was built on nostalgia. From a young age, I loved opening of the old holiday popcorn tins full of generations of family photos that my mom kept in the hallway closet.
