After working at a local flower shop for a little over 4 years, I came to the conclusion that by far my favorite part of being a florist was working with brides to make their day special, beautiful and fresh! So I made the decision to go in to business for myself and I love the creativity and flexibility this has given me and enabled me to offer to my clients. Oberer's Flowers beginning goes back to the 1890s when Carl Oberer, an immigrant from Germany bought a plot of land north of Dayton on Troy Pike and started growing vegetables. He grew lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, and sold them at market in downtown Dayton. This was called "truck gardening" which contrary to common belief has nothing to do with trucks at all. An old meaning of the word "truck", derived from the French word torquer, is "to barter or exchange". It wasn't long before Carl gained reputation for having the best tasting vegetables in the city.

Believe it or not, we often have people ask if our pictures throughout our website are showing a mix of fresh and faux and…no they aren’t! Although fresh florals are pretty, we are totally in love with poser-blooms all the way here and that’s what we design 100% of our orders with.
