Every person has innate interests and passions, and I recognized from a very young age that creating beauty in my surroundings was something that I wanted to be a part of my life forever. Shortly after I learned to write, I could be found embellishing my letters with little hand-sketched swirls and flowers. Making flower crowns from dandelions I found outside was a staple pastime of my childhood. This inner drive to create has evolved as I grew older and when I was first introduced into the world of floral design in 2016, I quickly realized that I wanted flower arranging to be a part of my life in some way from then on.

My name is Roberta Staggs, founder and lead designer of Hiawathia Floral Design Co. My passion for floristry began with my grandmother during the final stages of Parkinson’s disease. Sharing flowers with her became a way to bring beauty, comfort, and connection during a difficult time. That experience inspired me to create a floral studio rooted in meaning and storytelling. Today, I design wedding florals that reflect Fearless Color, Modern Romance, and Artful Storytelling, creating vibrant, expressive designs that celebrate each couple’s unique love story and transform their celebration into a memorable floral experience.

Michelle started her career as a lawyer, but could not resist the pull of her family’s legacy—flowers! A third-generation florist, some of her earliest childhood memories include processing flowers at her grandmother’s shop in northern Indiana. She grew her love of flowers working along side her mom in creating amazing wedding florals for couples all over Indiana. Ask her and she will tell you that she was trained by the best!
