“While planning an off-season wedding on Fire Island is daunting, Jim, Drew and the whole Maguire's crew made it easy! Quick responses, and really worked with us to deliver exactly what we wanted for our big day - even with some ridiculous requests. The food was incredible, setup was better, and the vibe was one that our friends and family STILL talk about to this day....6 years later! I actually can't write enough good things about this venue. It was the best day of our life, pulled off effortlessly. My husband and I are actually already planning to do a 10-year anniversary party there - at our guests' requests! We love Maguire's, and the view is not so bad either ;).”

“The team at the Garden City Hotel was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. From the moment we first spoke with them, they were easy to communicate with and very responsive to all of our questions and requests. The space itself was absolutely stunning - the ballroom was beautifully decorated and the outdoor gardens provided a lovely backdrop for our photos. But what really made the day special was the outstanding service we received. The bridal attendant, Nang, was with me from the moment I put on my dress until the very end of the night, ensuring I had everything I needed and helping to make the day run smoothly. The events directors, Paul, Merril, and Jose, were also incredibly helpful, working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure the wedding went off without a hitch. We and all of our guests had an absolutely wonderful experience, and we can't thank the Garden City Hotel team enough for helping to make our special day so memorable.”

Why you'll love this venue

  • Bridal suite on site
  • Versatile for various event styles
  • Full catering menu to choose from

Venue considerations

  • Not for you if you are drawn to more unconventional venues
  • No free parking
  • Not wheelchair accessible
“Overall, we are happy with our wedding day. The Mansion is in the process of being renovated/restored and so far it is looking beautiful! The hotel rooms were recently updated and guests were happy with them. The food was also FANTASTIC! (All of our guests were raving about all of the food). They clearly are a well oiled machine when it comes to throwing weddings. We also had our welcome dinner there the night before, which went amazingly and there was so much food everyone was happy! However, there were a few hiccups that bothered us considering how much money is put into having a wedding & how this venue does weddings all.the.time. so expectations are high. In the planning process, the event coordinator position was replaced 3 times in the year we were planning our wedding with them, the last replacement being the week before our wedding. The final replacement did not have any of our vendor info or cake selections and called me 4 days before my wedding about it (...scary). It must've been a miscommunication from the coordinator prior to her, as that girl never responded to any of our emails; I'm sure she did not keep any notes. The current coordinator also could not answer simple questions our friends/family asked her and was very pushy. On our wedding day, I was paired with a Maitre D who was very sweet, but I'm not sure about her "years" of experience that she claimed to have. While taking photos with our photographer she wasn't paying attention and wasn't fixing my dress/veil every time wind blew it out of place so the photographer had to leave his place each time to fix it himself (it was a windy day so this happened a lot). The photographer also asked her to assist in a "veil toss" shot and she ripped the veil from my head, yanking my head back, when she was just supposed to toss it up in the air. It hurt and pulled on my hair style that was supposed to last all night. I mentioned before the food was excellent, and the Chef is incredible. However, when we booked our venue last year, we were adamant about wanting a real wedding cake--not a fake one you cut one slice into for pictures. We were told by one of the event planners there that all tiers were going to be real cake, but during our cake cutting, we cut into styrofoam...it was disappointing. The cake they served was delicious, but we thought we were paying for a real cake because we were told it would be 100% real. We probably would not have booked this venue had we known we'd get a fake cake; it was something my dad made sure to ask at every venue we checked out, it was important to him. Additionally, some rude comments were overheard by our guests made by various staff members about our wedding. As a business owner whose business is to also provide a service, that is absolutely unacceptable, especially while on the job where people can hear you. Jazmin, the Chef, and the front desk ladies were very pleasant and professional to work with, but no one else there seemed to know what they were doing. It ended up working out but again, with how many weddings this place throws, you'd expect a better level of professionalism.”

“There are moments in life that you hope will be perfect, and your child's wedding is certainly one of them. I am so grateful that we chose Hotel Indigo Riverhead to host our son's welcome dinner and farewell brunch. We welcomed nearly 90 family members and friends, and from beginning to end, every single person we encountered treated us with kindness, warmth, and genuine hospitality. A very special thank you to Joseph at the front desk. He patiently helped several of our guests with booking issues and always greeted everyone with a smile. On top of that, he somehow managed to graciously accommodate my endless questions and last-minute requests without ever making me feel like I was imposing. And then there was Cristen, the Director of Catering. I honestly don't know how to thank her enough. Wedding planning can be overwhelming, and there were plenty of times I reached out with "just one more question" or "one more favor." She never once made me feel like I was asking too much. Instead, she was encouraging, reassuring, and almost always found a way to say "yes." She truly cared about making our events special, and it showed in every detail. The food was wonderful, the service was exceptional, and the entire team made us feel like family rather than just another event on the calendar. To everyone at Hotel Indigo Riverhead—thank you for helping create memories that our family and friends will cherish for a lifetime. You played a meaningful part in one of the most important weekends of our lives, and for that we are incredibly grateful. If you're considering a venue for a wedding weekend, rehearsal dinner, brunch, family celebration, or corporate event, I recommend Hotel Indigo Riverhead without hesitation. You won't just receive excellent service—you'll be cared for by people who truly want your event to be unforgettable.”

  • No in-house lighting and sound packages available

“Our wedding turned out to be incredibly beautiful, thanks to a unique venue and execution by its staff. However, that perfect day was almost derailed by the unacceptable pressure campaign to change ceremony locations due to concerns over furniture getting wet. We wanted this review to capture our nearly 20 months of planning with the TWA Hotel. PLANNING PROS: -Variety of spaces -Responsiveness -Flexibility for storing supplies CONS: -No FAQ document -Frustrating room block system -Forgotten menu tasting notification -Lack of communication and contradictory info from the Paris Cafe for rehearsal dinner THE WEDDING PROS: -Organized and accommodating staff -The food, especially the pastrami station and red velvet cake for dessert CONS: -Wrong display with typo on Solaris board in the Sunken Lounge -Our tiered wedding cake wasn’t cut and served even tho there clearly wasn’t enough sheet cake to pass around -The weather “policy”: We were told that we could make a final decision on an outdoor ceremony up until the morning of our wedding, and our point of contact reassured us of this during our final walkthru 2 weeks out. Our contract also secured the Sunken Lounge as the backup option if we chose to move indoors. However, in the final days and hours before our wedding, we were pressured to move our ceremony indoors, despite nearly all weather reports showing clear skies for our 5-6pm ceremony and rain only after 9pm. Our point of contact started questioning our outdoor plans 4-5 days before the wedding, and even met with us multiple times - first in the lobby while we were dropping off supplies 2 days before our wedding, again when we were checking in the next day, and yet again when we were at the pool before our rehearsal dinner, where we had to brush off our guests in order to have a serious meeting. Each time, they told us we needed to make a "final call" now, not the morning-of as we had been told before. After listing their reasons to move the ceremony indoors (which included threatening to release the Sunken Lounge from our backup option, despite what our contract said), the point of contact mentioned that the head manager was concerned about the rain damaging the leather chairs, and then proposed a “solution” of having the ceremony outside, but not setting up any chairs so that our guests would stand for the entire ceremony. It was clear to us that the real reason why we were being pressured was that the manager didn’t want their leather chairs to get wet! We asserted that, unless we were explicitly told we couldn't have our ceremony outside, we would stick with the outdoor option. The morning of our wedding, our day-of coordinator informed us that the venue was insisting they now had a “50% chance of rain policy”, giving them the “right” to change ceremony locations. We immediately forwarded reports from 10 weather sites that all had a chance of rain between 5-7pm at 0-30%. We finally saw chairs being set up outside in the mid-afternoon, and when our ceremony got underway, the clouds parted ways and the sun started shining. CONCLUSION: The TWA Hotel is such a special place to celebrate your wedding! Before you sign the contract, however, understand that you’ll have to stay on top of the planning process, and in cases like ours, fight for what you envision. Make sure the contract spells out any and all promises — there were items that we made sure they honored as it was clear the hotel’s policies had changed since the signing.”

“The most perfect wedding venue you can find in NYC. The skyline views, the rooftop, the penthouse, the food, the service, it is all unbeatable. Almost every single guest told us it was the most perfect wedding they've ever gone to. First, the planning process. Eman is the most organized, efficient and professional coordinator you will find. She was there with us every step of the way, guiding us to make all the best choices. On the day of the wedding, it is scary how she is able to get things done. It's clear she has done it a million times and knows exactly what to do to make sure everything goes smoothly. The food - guests still have not stopped raving about the entire cocktail hour, from the sushi station to the sliders. For dinner, the entrees are ACTUALLY delicious - not your typical wedding food at all. And the dessert parade (also super yummy) is such a fun surprise to end the night with. The service - there were so many staff everywhere to help answer questions and give directions, and every single one was patient, kind and helpful. During the dinner, guests said that their water cup was never empty and the server for each table was responsive and accommodating. We never felt like we were just one in a hundred weddings they've done that season. It made all the difference for it to feel like a high-class event. The venue - you won't get views like this anywhere else. The rooftop for a ceremony is so so unique and special. The foyer was the perfect place for cocktail hour, such great vibes. And the penthouse was jaw-dropping gorgeous. The candles and string lights against the nighttime skyline makes for the best backdrop. Again, all the guests were raving about how beautifully it all came together. Ravel made our entire wedding into a perfect night we will never forget. You will not regret it!!”

The team was a well oiled machine, They handled every transition and any small hiccup with precision and grace. The personal attention given to the couple throughout the reception was greatly appreciated. The team had amazing communication and answered all my many questions with ease. I planned my wedding myself and hired a day of coordinator only because the Ace were so easy to work with. Not only is the space beautiful but the staff are so kind and the food from their restaurant was beyond great. My guests were so happy. I would highly suggest having them handle your cake as well because it’s all made in house and I sent them my inspiration and they knocked it out of the park! Because they handle so much I was able to focus on smaller details and design for the day that made it feel extra special. I will tell anyone who asks if they are looking to get married to check out the Ace Hotel Brooklyn! Ashllyn, Auri, Cindy & Paul absolutely smashed it - couldn’t have asked for a better weekend!”

The Standard, East Village

New York, NY
  • Up to 50 guests

Located off Cooper Square in one of New York’s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure—very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan from the hotel's crowned jewel, The Penthouse. There’s a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level that in the warmer months is filled with lush topiaries and floral arrangements, and in the cold season transforms into a magical winter wonderland. On the second floor, The Overlook is a cozy room perfect for a rehearsal dinner or cocktails, connected to The Perch which overlooks The Garden. Downstairs, there's Narcissa restaurant, which boasts its own private terrace, the street-side Café Standard, and NO BAR, a highly inclusive new wave gay bar with custom artwork and a disco ball.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Exudes style
  • Has an intimate feel for a small guest list
  • Private area for the wedding party

Venue considerations

  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Better for more intimiate events
“Having never been privy to what goes into a wedding reception, I was in the dark about a lot. So, I had difficulty understanding what to choose and how much our choices would cost. If it wasn’t for the close proximity to the church, I may have chosen a different venue for our reception. The food and beverage was the biggest expense and the biggest source of confusion. The real disappointment of the F&B was the limited amount of food. The shrimp appetizer was good. However, there was so little, if you didn’t grab some, it was gone. Of the three entrees to choose from, the only one that was any good was the fish and the portion was less than one would reasonably expect for an entree. The chicken was dry and hard, a huge disappointment. The lemon tart dessert was good. The space itself is very nice. Fortunately, it was just the right size for our reception.”

Krystal and Sophie went WAY above and beyond to make our celebration and our stay go smoothly and something we will never forget! The cocktails were delicious, everyone was accomodating (including complimentary champagne in the room) and the Japanese soaking tub on the roof was sublime! Soaking in the tub with the view of the Empire State Building is a night I’ll look forward to repeating… and I would recommend for anyone else to do the same!”
