The Kristin Trotta Wedding Band

5.0

  • Band or Ensemble
  • Starts at $6,000
  • Serves Forest Hills, NY

With powerful vocals and original arrangements The Kristin Trotta Wedding Band brings a unique and customized experience to your wedding. Kristin is equally at home belting Aretha blues as she is crooning Christina ballads and impresses with her vocal versatility. Uton’s powerful range and stage presence bring all the entertainment you could ask for. From a killer rhythm section to a stellar presentation, we promise to make your special day memorable and fun for all ages! Contact us here for more information.

Choosing Kristin as part of the live band for our wedding reception was one of the best vendor decisions my husband and I made. From the very beginning, Kristin was incredibly kind and easy to work with. She even learned 5 new songs for us! She learned songs for our first dance, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, and even learned Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” for me, a huge Swiftie! Kristin performed a whole range of songs, from pop to rock to even some oldies that pleased my older relatives! Everyone at our wedding found a song to dance to by the end of the night. Our guests kept coming up to my husband and I just to say how much they loved the band, but notably, Kristin! Needless to say, Kristin absolutely rocked it and created some special moments that my husband and I will never forget! She came out into the crowd to dance and interact with my two young nieces (ages 4 and 2), who, in turn, instantly became part of the show. We cannot recommend Kristin Trotta and her Wedding Band more highly as a live band for your wedding day. They will for sure make your wedding one to remember!

Colby Blount Weddings

5.0

  • Photographer
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Serves Forest Hills, NY

Colby Blount is an award winning fashion and wedding photographer. Born and raised in Georgia and now calls New York home. He loves merging a stylized vision with a photojournalist eye to help tell stories that feel real and authentic.

We recently hired Colby to shoot our tiny Covid-friendly Catholic ceremony and had an amazing experience! I cannot recommend him enough. Our ceremony took place in a historic Catholic church with restrictions on how close a photographer could get to the altar. Colby was very respectful of the space and still managed to get incredible photos of the ceremony. Our handful of guests commented on how non-intrusive he was while still managing to capture so many special moments. After the ceremony we went to a local park to capture photos of just myself and the groom and these photos blew us away. He was so easy to work with and made us feel very comfortable considering we are not naturals in front of the camera! The candid pictures look so natural and not forced. The variety of poses, backgrounds and settings he chose were great for getting many options of photos we love. I highly recommend hiring Colby for your wedding during and after this crazy pandemic. He wore a mask the entire time, was so calm and collected, and we had a blast spending our wedding day with him. He even let us stop to take pictures with our pet cat ! (LOL) Amazingly, our fully edited album of photos was ready less than a week later! We will always treasure these photos and this experience during the crazy times of 2020.

Veil & Film

After nearly a decade of freelancing as a wedding cinematographer and photographer, I’m excited to have opened my own studio, dedicated to capturing love stories. While I originally came to the U.S. in 2015 for a Master’s in International Business, I discovered my true passion for documenting life’s most special moments. Weddings are about more than just beautiful shots—they’re about preserving raw, candid emotions. My goal is to capture moments you’ll cherish forever, so you can relive your wedding day for years to come.

The quality of their work was truly top-notch - the level of detail they captured was marvelous, ensuring that all the small, special moments of our day were preserved in a way that makes the footage so memorable. If you have visited the Foundry, you know how amazing and beautiful it is, but what you don’t know before you work with them is how responsive and helpful they are once you have committed to them. We had about 130 guests and used the main room for the ceremony, the greenhouse room and space outside for the cocktail hour, the courtyard for the reception dinner, the main room again for the dancing, and the greenhouse room again for the after party (11 to midnight). We also rented the Du Val suite for getting ready, and it was a superb space for the groom’s party and extended family to get ready and hang out and also has the most beautiful garden with city views. Our wedding was absolutely amazing and vindicated our immediate love for the Foundry that we developed the first time we toured it, and the Foundry staff are extremely helpful and kind.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Handles all cleanup logistics
  • Provides catering services
  • Accommodates more than 200 guests

Venue considerations

  • Large venue, not ideal for small guest lists
  • No in-house lighting and sound packages available
  • Not for you if you are looking for something nontraditional
Our wedding turned out to be incredibly beautiful, thanks to a unique venue and execution by its staff. However, that perfect day was almost derailed by the unacceptable pressure campaign to change ceremony locations due to concerns over furniture getting wet. We wanted this review to capture our nearly 20 months of planning with the TWA Hotel. PLANNING PROS: -Variety of spaces -Responsiveness -Flexibility for storing supplies CONS: -No FAQ document -Frustrating room block system -Forgotten menu tasting notification -Lack of communication and contradictory info from the Paris Cafe for rehearsal dinner THE WEDDING PROS: -Organized and accommodating staff -The food, especially the pastrami station and red velvet cake for dessert CONS: -Wrong display with typo on Solaris board in the Sunken Lounge -Our tiered wedding cake wasn’t cut and served even tho there clearly wasn’t enough sheet cake to pass around -The weather “policy”: We were told that we could make a final decision on an outdoor ceremony up until the morning of our wedding, and our point of contact reassured us of this during our final walkthru 2 weeks out. Our contract also secured the Sunken Lounge as the backup option if we chose to move indoors. However, in the final days and hours before our wedding, we were pressured to move our ceremony indoors, despite nearly all weather reports showing clear skies for our 5-6pm ceremony and rain only after 9pm. Our point of contact started questioning our outdoor plans 4-5 days before the wedding, and even met with us multiple times - first in the lobby while we were dropping off supplies 2 days before our wedding, again when we were checking in the next day, and yet again when we were at the pool before our rehearsal dinner, where we had to brush off our guests in order to have a serious meeting. Each time, they told us we needed to make a "final call" now, not the morning-of as we had been told before. After listing their reasons to move the ceremony indoors (which included threatening to release the Sunken Lounge from our backup option, despite what our contract said), the point of contact mentioned that the head manager was concerned about the rain damaging the leather chairs, and then proposed a “solution” of having the ceremony outside, but not setting up any chairs so that our guests would stand for the entire ceremony. It was clear to us that the real reason why we were being pressured was that the manager didn’t want their leather chairs to get wet! We asserted that, unless we were explicitly told we couldn't have our ceremony outside, we would stick with the outdoor option. The morning of our wedding, our day-of coordinator informed us that the venue was insisting they now had a “50% chance of rain policy”, giving them the “right” to change ceremony locations. We immediately forwarded reports from 10 weather sites that all had a chance of rain between 5-7pm at 0-30%. We finally saw chairs being set up outside in the mid-afternoon, and when our ceremony got underway, the clouds parted ways and the sun started shining. CONCLUSION: The TWA Hotel is such a special place to celebrate your wedding! Before you sign the contract, however, understand that you’ll have to stay on top of the planning process, and in cases like ours, fight for what you envision. Make sure the contract spells out any and all promises — there were items that we made sure they honored as it was clear the hotel’s policies had changed since the signing.

WHEN I WAS 15 MY DAD BOUGHT ME A CAMERA AND I QUICKLY FELT IN LOVE WITH THE ABILITY TO CAPTURE MEMORIES AND FREEZE MOMENTS IN TIME. A FEW YEARS LATER, I AM A PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN NEW YORK CITY BUT THAT LOVE FOR CAPTURING AUTHENTIC MOMENTS WITH REAL PEOPLE HAS NOT CHANGED. Shanta agreed to our witness as well as our photographer. Everything was dealt with by email and Shanta responded quickly and her emails were always warm and friendly. On the day Shanta was amazing. The weather was not the best, but her lovely personality put us both at ease and we spent a great day with her. It was an absolute pleasure to have her as part of our day. To date, there are only two images of me as a child. The first is my passport photo at the age of 1.5 months, the second is an image of me at the age of 8. Because of this, I have a deeper understanding, value and passion for photographs and imagery. With that said, I purchased my first camera at the age of 16 with my first paycheck! (used to flip burgers at a local Roy Rogers!). With that camera, I quickly learned how much I loved the art of documenting life with imagery and in 2012, I left a 16 year career in healthcare to follow my dream of becoming a photographer. I haven't looked back one day since then.

•down to earth •always cheerful •in love with her job •hits her deadlines •knows the ins&outs of the business •Never fails the meet product expectations The only thing you might love more than Nidji's work Is Nidji. She's a pleasure for both her clients and co-vendors. Wedding planning is stressful on every level, even after you've got your ducks in order. With Nidji, you can leave at least that bit of it on the floor.

Tom Schelling is class, personified. Our experience with working with Tom and his fiancé Heather the day of our wedding was seamless and perfect! He is super creative, relaxed and flexible, as well as efficient and organized.. essentially he checks every single box you could ever want in your wedding photographer! My husband and I arrived separately to a predetermined location in Central Park by Tom for a genuine first look, followed by a breathtaking shoot at nearby locations in the park, and finally our ceremony at Dene Summerhouse. The entire experience leading up to our actual ceremony not only eased our own anxieties, but we had so much fun! He took the “pressure and work” off of us through his ability to gently and creatively guide us through our photos and make us laugh along the way. Tom is a visionary, and has an eye for originality, class, and romance. His photography embodies iconic NYC as well. Tom was extremely helpful in planning the timeline of our special day, in choosing the photo and ceremony locations, and in organizing the shot list for family photos. In conclusion, do not hesitate to choose Tom Schelling as your NYC Wedding Photographer or for your special event, it will be the best decision you have made! Thank you, Tom!

Tres Belle Fete Events

  • Planner

Wedding Ninja with a special place in my heart for non-traditional and multicultural celebrations. Movies turned me into the ultimate romantic dreamer, leading me — an economics phd to quit academia and pursue my love for food, hospitality and events. Since then, I’ve made every kind of wedding magic happen for every kind of scenario you can imagine: from cinematic Bollywood-style extravaganzas at venues like The Bowery Hotel and St. Regis in Aspen, to more intimate celebrations at homes.

We cannot recommend Seema enough as a coordinator. We found her just a month before our wedding when we realized our venue wouldn’t be handling many of the responsibilities we’d originally been told they would (decor setup, breakdown, ceremony chairs, etc.) After interviewing a few candidates, we immediately felt most confident with Seema and hired her on the spot. From the start, she put us completely at ease with her incredible attention to detail, warmth, and kindness. We had been so stressed, and the day we met her, she took over emails to all our vendors, and I actually peacefully slept through the night for the first time in a week. Seema went above and beyond to ensure our day was exactly what we envisioned. Even when we were ready to throw money at problems, she took it upon herself to find cost-effective solutions for us. From the moment we met her, she took the reins, allowing us to relax. She facilitated meetings prior to our wedding, introduced herself to our vendors, and tied up every loose end to make sure the day went off without a hitch. When unexpected challenges arose on the wedding day (weather issues, vendor delays, and many more) Seema pivoted smoothly and kept everything on track with a cheerful, calm demeanor. Seema’s ability to keep us on schedule without being pushy was incredible. She gave gentle nudges when it was time to move guests to another room or make speeches, and by the end of the night, we had moved through our timeline stress-free. It was a dream to have someone take the reins so gracefully and discreetly. Seema truly was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding, and we are forever grateful for her hard work and dedication. We hope you have the same amazing experience!

Jess Lazar Video

5.0

  • Videographer
  • Documentary style
  • Serves Forest Hills, NY

I am a New York City-based videographer and editor. As a wedding filmmaker, my priority is showcasing the feeling of the day. I use my love of documentary and fantasy to guide my eye throughout a wedding so when you sit down, you’re not just watching a glossy, dramatic video of your day, but a time capsule that brings you back to how it felt to be there.

Jess Lazar Video is an absolute pleasure to work with for wedding videography. Her communication style is collaborative, inclusive, discreet, helpful, and kind throughout the entire process. A huge bonus is that Jess is a licensed drone photographer, which means you get to follow her on her adventures around your wedding venue and the surrounding area, adding instant cinematic flair to the final product. Jess has a fantastic cinematic eye, and I absolutely love the way she follows couples into the light and includes nature, architecture, and a "sense of place" in her work. She's also a top-notch editor and overall wonderful human! I love the way Jess layers audio with living snapshots of the day, which really calls forth the emotion that you felt in the moment - the main reason to invest in videography. She tells the couple's story through setting, connection, and beautiful detail work in addition to capturing all the moments you hope to see in a traditional wedding film.

Fallingwater Films

5.0

  • Videographer
  • Documentary style
  • Starts at $3,500
  • Serves Forest Hills, NY

We offer a unique style of wedding documentary. Imagine handing your good friend a camcorder at your wedding. They know exactly what to capture, and how to capture it. That's because they know you so well! We emulate this, but bring years of documentary film, and wedding content creation experience. It's our goal to help you hold onto your special day, because from what we've heard, it passes in a flash. Let's tell your story together.

We booked Fallingwater Films last minute and can’t believe how lucky we were to find Ian. From the start, he was incredibly communicative and helpful, especially since we weren’t even sure if we wanted a wedding video or what style we were looking for. After chatting with him and watching his previous work, we just knew… this is what we wanted. Ian doesn’t create your typical, cookie-cutter wedding video. His style is natural, emotional, and real. He captures not just the big moments, but the small, funny, meaningful ones too..the ones that make your day YOURS. Watching our highlight reel felt like reliving the day all over again. Not just how it looked, but how it felt. How we felt. How our guests and family felt. It is something we will cherish forever and can rewind back to that perfect special day and get all those feelings back to us because he captures IT ALL! His work is truly remarkable, and if you’re even considering having your day captured on video, don’t hesitate ... book him!! You won’t regret it.
