The Kristin Trotta Wedding Band

5.0

  • Band or Ensemble
  • Starts at $6,000
  • Serves Bellerose, NY

With powerful vocals and original arrangements The Kristin Trotta Wedding Band brings a unique and customized experience to your wedding. Kristin is equally at home belting Aretha blues as she is crooning Christina ballads and impresses with her vocal versatility. Uton’s powerful range and stage presence bring all the entertainment you could ask for. From a killer rhythm section to a stellar presentation, we promise to make your special day memorable and fun for all ages! Contact us here for more information.

I gave them a pretty technical setlist (a lot of funk/rock with crazy bass lines, Motown with tricky vocals, etc) and they knocked it out of the park while mixing in wedding favorites and got people dancing. They're very easy to work with, very professional, and I'd hire them again!

Colby Blount Weddings

5.0

  • Photographer
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Serves Bellerose, NY

Colby Blount is an award winning fashion and wedding photographer. Born and raised in Georgia and now calls New York home. He loves merging a stylized vision with a photojournalist eye to help tell stories that feel real and authentic.

When my partner and I first saw Colby's work, we knew he was the perfect fit for us. His photographs are romantic and dreamy but still somehow edgy and modern. We reached out to Colby and heard back quickly. We met for coffee to talk about what we were thinking for our wedding. Colby was receptive, professional, patient, and kind through the whole process. When we changed our mind about things, he adapted. He remained calm, cool, and creative through our engagement shoot as well as our wedding day. If Colby had only delivered a few good pictures, we would have been over the moon-- but he absolutely blew us away with our photos. We will cherish these for a lifetime. Cannot recommend him enough!

I dropped out of the physics program at Purdue University to pursue graphic design and photography. I fell in love with light; hard light, soft light, warm light, cool light, clean light, dirty light... all the flavors of light. And I fell in love with how the camera captures light and renders an image. For me having a camera in my hand is being home. I hope that feeling comes through in my photography. I look forward to chatting with you about your special day.

Tom Weis Photo was a true pleasure to work with for our wedding. From our very first interaction, his communication style was thoughtful, engaging and fun. The quality of Tom's work is nothing short of expert - the photos are absolutely beautiful, with a perfect blend of classic and experimental styles that captured all the special moments of our day. He was kind and attentive to our friends and family, and fully embraced the unique ideas I had for shots. Tom Weis himself has a wonderful energy and positive vibe that made the whole experience a joy. I would highly recommend him to any couple planning their wedding or for any event. He's simply a great guy who will ensure your memories are beautifully preserved.

TWA Hotel

Saarinen’s iconic Flight Tubes (made famous by the 2002 film Catch Me If You Can) lead to guestrooms and museum exhibits, as well as provide a premium photo opp. The nostalgic clacking sound of two authentic Solari split-flap boards — and the view of the 1958 Lockheed Constellation on the tarmac just outside — fully transport visitors back to the golden age of travel.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Handles all cleanup logistics
  • Provides catering services
  • Accommodates more than 200 guests

Venue considerations

  • Large venue, not ideal for small guest lists
  • No in-house lighting and sound packages available
  • Not for you if you are looking for something nontraditional
Our wedding turned out to be incredibly beautiful, thanks to a unique venue and execution by its staff. However, that perfect day was almost derailed by the unacceptable pressure campaign to change ceremony locations due to concerns over furniture getting wet. We wanted this review to capture our nearly 20 months of planning with the TWA Hotel. PLANNING PROS: -Variety of spaces -Responsiveness -Flexibility for storing supplies CONS: -No FAQ document -Frustrating room block system -Forgotten menu tasting notification -Lack of communication and contradictory info from the Paris Cafe for rehearsal dinner THE WEDDING PROS: -Organized and accommodating staff -The food, especially the pastrami station and red velvet cake for dessert CONS: -Wrong display with typo on Solaris board in the Sunken Lounge -Our tiered wedding cake wasn’t cut and served even tho there clearly wasn’t enough sheet cake to pass around -The weather “policy”: We were told that we could make a final decision on an outdoor ceremony up until the morning of our wedding, and our point of contact reassured us of this during our final walkthru 2 weeks out. Our contract also secured the Sunken Lounge as the backup option if we chose to move indoors. However, in the final days and hours before our wedding, we were pressured to move our ceremony indoors, despite nearly all weather reports showing clear skies for our 5-6pm ceremony and rain only after 9pm. Our point of contact started questioning our outdoor plans 4-5 days before the wedding, and even met with us multiple times - first in the lobby while we were dropping off supplies 2 days before our wedding, again when we were checking in the next day, and yet again when we were at the pool before our rehearsal dinner, where we had to brush off our guests in order to have a serious meeting. Each time, they told us we needed to make a "final call" now, not the morning-of as we had been told before. After listing their reasons to move the ceremony indoors (which included threatening to release the Sunken Lounge from our backup option, despite what our contract said), the point of contact mentioned that the head manager was concerned about the rain damaging the leather chairs, and then proposed a “solution” of having the ceremony outside, but not setting up any chairs so that our guests would stand for the entire ceremony. It was clear to us that the real reason why we were being pressured was that the manager didn’t want their leather chairs to get wet! We asserted that, unless we were explicitly told we couldn't have our ceremony outside, we would stick with the outdoor option. The morning of our wedding, our day-of coordinator informed us that the venue was insisting they now had a “50% chance of rain policy”, giving them the “right” to change ceremony locations. We immediately forwarded reports from 10 weather sites that all had a chance of rain between 5-7pm at 0-30%. We finally saw chairs being set up outside in the mid-afternoon, and when our ceremony got underway, the clouds parted ways and the sun started shining. CONCLUSION: The TWA Hotel is such a special place to celebrate your wedding! Before you sign the contract, however, understand that you’ll have to stay on top of the planning process, and in cases like ours, fight for what you envision. Make sure the contract spells out any and all promises — there were items that we made sure they honored as it was clear the hotel’s policies had changed since the signing.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Historic touches

Venue considerations

  • No on-site guest accommodations
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • No free parking
Our experience with the Douglaston Manor was an actual dream come true! From the moment we walked in to see the Manor, Kathy, our wedding coordinator, was wonderful. Relaxed, sweet, and so caring about us and what we wanted, she never made us feel pressured or nervous and gently made suggestions which ended up making our night even better than we could have hoped. Working with Carlos our Maitre D and Michelle my Bridal Attendant was a blessing. Michelle was so attentive and helpful. Within minutes of meeting her, I felt like I was spending time with a good friend. She was so funny, kept me calm and literally did anything and everything I needed- most of the time without me having to ask her. The same could be said for Carlos. Just to give a small example, my fake eyelash starting come off a tiny bit. Without any eyelash glue on us, I was nervous about how we would fix the issue but The Manor proved how above and beyond they'd go when Carlos, unpromoted and unknown to me at the time, went out and brought me eyelash glue! It was a small gesture but it went a long way and showed me how devoted the Manor is to their clients. Michelle made sure he knew exactly what to get and she helped me fix it when he came back (which was unbelievably quick as well) . Carlos was fantastic at keeping my group organized and making sure the ceremony was perfect. We are so grateful to both of them. Aside from their exceptional service, the staff at the manor was outstanding- every room was impeccably decorated and arranged exactly as we had hope, all of the items we had brought with us for various aspects of the night were set up perfectly without instruction and the attention to detail was second to none. The food. I am biased seeing as it was my own wedding, but the food was incredible from start to finish. The cocktail hour sampling that Michelle left from my husband and I including EVERYTHING being served downstairs and was presented beautifully- time was clearly taken to make sure we were able to try the food but also have it presented to us in a really special way. Kathy had suggested we try an "off-menu" item, braised beef in a red wine sauce, and no surprise, it was easily the best tasting wedding dinner item I've had at any wedding. There are so many things that go into making a wedding day perfect and that means there are so many things that are easy to stress over. Not once during the planning process or on the big day did I ever feel worried or concerned. Everybody communicated clearly, checked and double checked things and did everything possible to ensure everything was perfect- not just great, but genuinely perfect. Oh, and the cost was VERY reasonable. Kathy worked with us every step of the way to accommodate our budget while making sure the elements we wanted were included. We are looking forward to going back to the manor for future celebrations and feel so thankful to have been treated so well. They made our day everything we ever could have hoped for!

Thanks to her fresh and flawless work, she has participated in New York Fashion Week every year since 2016, highlighting and bringing out the natural features of her models across runway shows for Pamela Rolland. Stephanie’s philosophy when it comes to makeup is simple yet energetic; she seeks to enhance the natural features and bring out the inner natural beauty innate in all of us.

Steph was a delight to work with. She is an expert and did an exceptional job with not only my make up but also my mom and mother in law. The make-up enhanced our features and did not feel caked on at all. 100% will use her services again for any future events as well as recommend her to anyone seeking a beauticion.

To date, there are only two images of me as a child. The first is my passport photo at the age of 1.5 months, the second is an image of me at the age of 8. Because of this, I have a deeper understanding, value and passion for photographs and imagery. With that said, I purchased my first camera at the age of 16 with my first paycheck! (used to flip burgers at a local Roy Rogers!). With that camera, I quickly learned how much I loved the art of documenting life with imagery and in 2012, I left a 16 year career in healthcare to follow my dream of becoming a photographer. I haven't looked back one day since then.

•down to earth •always cheerful •in love with her job •hits her deadlines •knows the ins&outs of the business •Never fails the meet product expectations The only thing you might love more than Nidji's work Is Nidji. She's a pleasure for both her clients and co-vendors. Wedding planning is stressful on every level, even after you've got your ducks in order. With Nidji, you can leave at least that bit of it on the floor.

Tom Schelling is class, personified. Our experience with working with Tom and his fiancé Heather the day of our wedding was seamless and perfect! He is super creative, relaxed and flexible, as well as efficient and organized.. essentially he checks every single box you could ever want in your wedding photographer! My husband and I arrived separately to a predetermined location in Central Park by Tom for a genuine first look, followed by a breathtaking shoot at nearby locations in the park, and finally our ceremony at Dene Summerhouse. The entire experience leading up to our actual ceremony not only eased our own anxieties, but we had so much fun! He took the “pressure and work” off of us through his ability to gently and creatively guide us through our photos and make us laugh along the way. Tom is a visionary, and has an eye for originality, class, and romance. His photography embodies iconic NYC as well. Tom was extremely helpful in planning the timeline of our special day, in choosing the photo and ceremony locations, and in organizing the shot list for family photos. In conclusion, do not hesitate to choose Tom Schelling as your NYC Wedding Photographer or for your special event, it will be the best decision you have made! Thank you, Tom!

Wedding Ninja with a special place in my heart for non-traditional and multicultural celebrations. Movies turned me into the ultimate romantic dreamer, leading me — an economics phd to quit academia and pursue my love for food, hospitality and events. Since then, I’ve made every kind of wedding magic happen for every kind of scenario you can imagine: from cinematic Bollywood-style extravaganzas at venues like The Bowery Hotel and St. Regis in Aspen, to more intimate celebrations at homes.

Seema did a truly outstanding job with our multicultural, double-ceremony wedding last month. Hiring her was one of the best decisions we made in the planning process and her support on the day-of and in the months leading up to the wedding was invaluable. She is incredibly kind, diligent and hard-working, and brings exactly the kind of calm, cheerful energy you want around on your wedding day. We had a fairly complicated wedding, with two ceremonies in one day at separate venues — an Indian/Hindu version in the morning followed by lunch, and a western version followed by a reception in the evening. There were a lot of moving parts and a pretty tight schedule, and I think Seema was really essential to how smoothly everything went, and how seamless the day felt for us and our guests. She was also hugely helpful with vendor communications before the wedding. After putting in so much time, effort and mental energy into wedding planning for the better part of a year, one big fear I had going into the day was that I would feel stressed and not actually enjoy myself that much. Looking back, it was such a fun day and I felt incredibly relaxed, and that was in huge part because I knew Seema was there, that she was on top of everything and that I trusted her to handle any hiccups. That is honestly the biggest gift you can give yourself on your wedding day — the ability to be in the moment and hand off all the details, timelines and logistics. I interviewed a few other coordinators before hiring Seema, and honestly felt like they all brought a sort of formulaic approach to the weddings they worked on. I never got that impression from Seema, and felt like she really personalized her work to us as a couple and made an effort to get to know us and understand what we wanted from the day. She is extremely responsive, was always prompt with things that needed to get done ahead of the wedding, and she and her two assistants were so helpful to have around on the day. Particularly with our morning/Hindu wedding venue (a major hotel chain whose events staff was very disorganized and difficult to get a hold of), I’m fairly confident that event would have been chaos if Seema and her team had not been there to wrangle people and guide them between locations. Lastly, she is just a fun person to talk to and I always felt better about wedding planning after a check-in with her! Would strongly recommend her to other couples!!

I am a New York City-based videographer and editor. As a wedding filmmaker, my priority is showcasing the feeling of the day. I use my love of documentary and fantasy to guide my eye throughout a wedding so when you sit down, you’re not just watching a glossy, dramatic video of your day, but a time capsule that brings you back to how it felt to be there.

Jess was absolutely incredible! She captured what we couldn’t experience at our wedding, interviewing our friends and family to hear about their perspective of the day. We watch the video every year on our anniversary and it makes me glow with happiness every time. She gives the perfect mix of capturing the big moments, and also those little moments our guests experienced that we may missed if not for her beautiful videography. Cannot recommend her enough!!
