Searles Castle at Windham offers that truly unique setting, and we’re conveniently located 30 miles north of Boston, less than five minutes from Rte.

Our story begins in 1858 when Frank Jones arrived in Portsmouth with a dream of brewing ale. Within three decades, The Frank Jones Brewery became the largest ale producer in the country. As ale production expanded, the brewery added a cooperage and scald house to clean the barrels. Workers used scalding hot rocks to sanitize barrels because soap and water would cause them to warp. Once cleaned, the barrels were filled with Jones’ signature ales. The Hawthorn now occupies this Scald House, retaining its original red-brick walls, towering beams, and industrial windows. “Cheers,” then, has a whole new meaning at The Hawthorn. When you raise your glass at your event, you’ll be toasting in a place that’s positively brewing with Portsmouth ale-making heritage and local history.

The Manor is rich with history, and is in a beautiful, luxurious condition. It features a large eat in kitchen, formal dining room, ample sitting rooms, 6 bedrooms each with their own bathroom and shower, a game room and swimming pool. The 2500 square foot barn is renovated to perfection with classy gold lighting features, a built in bar and large picture windows. Just outside the barn is ample land for a beautiful ceremony set up, an outdoor patio for cocktail hour and a covered pavilion. There is a great security in knowing you have a rain plan here. All of the event spaces include tables and chairs!

The house fell into disrepair and in 1994, came into our guardianship. We have been working ever since to return it to its former glory. Stonehouse, with its arched windows, and open porches, would serve as a picturesque backdrop for any function. We have a luxurious indoor space that accommodates 70 guests. For weddings exceeding 70 guests your even takes place in a pristine Century Pole tent. *Stonehouse On The Hill requires you book one of our approved caterers for food and beverages for your event.*

Founded in 1814, The West Boylston Company was a large textile manufacturer in West Boylston, MA. At the turn of the century the company faced a crisis: the site of their mill would be flooded to form the Wachusett Reservoir. Instead of abandoning the mill, the company dismantled it brick by brick and shipped it to its new home in Easthampton, where it was rebuilt on the banks of the Lower Mill Pond. Now, a century later, The Boylston Rooms retains the integrity of the 1814 original mill in every brick and beam. Our rental includes planners and decor at no added cost. Kathy had attended University of Vermont, fell in love with the state, and vowed to return one day. John left teaching to take his lifelong organic gardening passion to the next level. They looked at a number of farms across southern Vermont, and when they found the Farm at Williams River House, they knew they had found someplace really special – a front row view of Fox Chair Mountain, verdant green hayfields, timeless stone walls and split rail fences, and a stately home dating back to the time of our nation’s founding! They were home, and they wanted to share this magical and romantic space with others.
