About this venue

Uncommon Loon Brewing started in 2018 in the old Chisago City firehall. The brewing area, taproom and Barrel Room were the firehall, while our Grand Hall was the local Community Center. This room was originally a dance hall that built in 1902 and was several blocks away. It was moved in the 1970s to its current location and was connected to the firehall. We are proud to continue to utilize this 120+ year old space for community functions and as a rental space to bring family and friends together.

Grand Hall

A comfortable, classy space, with uncommonly good beer just a few steps away.

This 120+ year old space boasts a beautiful vaulted, white-washed wooden ceiling with black chandeliers. There is a wooden floor that works wonderfully as dance floor after your meal is complete. We also have an elevated stage to feature your live band or DJ.

Barrel Room

A great space to gather to celebrate an upcoming wedding.

Our Barrel Room is a warm, inviting space covered in barnwood and wildlife photographs. It has been named the Barrel Room because we utilize this space to barrel age one of our beers. This space sits adjacent to our Grand Hall, which allows the rooms to be rented together if you so choose.

    Cool vibe, helpful people, great experience!

    We had our rehearsal dinner at Uncommon Loon Brewing Company and couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the moment we started planning, their team was responsive and easy to work with, making the whole booking process smooth and stress-free. On the day of our event, they went above and beyond—when I realized I'd forgotten a knife to prep our taco-in-a-bag, they didn't hesitate to lend us one and even offered a cutting board without us asking. The space itself has this rustic, laid-back vibe that felt perfect for our celebration, and their creative decorations were a nice addition. Uncommon Loon's combination of genuine helpfulness and no-fuss attitude made our rehearsal dinner special. We highly recommend them for anyone looking to host an event.

You may bring in wine for a corking fee. You may not bring in your own beer, hard seltzer or hard alcohol. If you choose to utilize a caterer who has a liquor license, the caterer may serve alcohol. The alcohol must remain in the Event Center areas and may not be brought into the taproom or onto the patio.

We have a parking lot, which we share with the restaurant next door. There is also plenty of street parking. Many parties opt to book a shuttle for their wedding parties to transport everyone safely to the hotel they have chosen for their blocked rooms.
We provide tables and chairs. We will set them up and take them down after your event. We also provide access to a projector and screen as needed.
If you cancel your event within 30 days of your booked date, we’ll bill you 50% of the rental fee.
Our reservations are booked on a per hour basis. Your rental contract provides for 1 hour for set-up/decorating prior and 30 minutes for breakdown after your event is over. If you feel you will need more time, please adjust your rental contract accordingly.
Our venue is fully insured. However, if your caterer will be serving hard alcohol, they must provide a copy of their liquor license in advance of the event along with a certificate of insurance from the caterer listing Loon Legacy, LLC. as an additional insured on the GL and liquor liability.
