  • December Wedding at the Sycamore

(I'm posting this review to Google and Zola, so if you see it twice it isn't some purchases review - I just want as many people to see it as possible!)  We had our wedding at The Sycamore at Mallow Run in December of 2025 and we could not have been happier. The venue is absolutely beautiful. The grounds are beautiful, even in the dead of a frigid Indiana winter. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. Everyone was very responsive, from us planning our initial visit to some last minute changes in our ceremony.  Our venue coordinator was Kim W. and she was absolutely wonderful. She responded to emails very quickly - usually within 24 hours. She was even receptive to some last minute changes we had to our signature cocktails and us wanting to add an outdoor heater in case guests needed to get some air and leave the reception space for a moment. Kim was there all day and made a point to check in with us throughout the morning, but didn't get in the way or become overly involved. She was the perfect combination of attentive without interrupting.  While they have a specific list of preferred caterers, there is so much variation on the list that we didn't have any issues. Even if we hadn't liked those caterers, their fee for a non-preferred caterer was reasonable compared to other venues we looked at. Similarly, you have to use their bar and their bar staff, but their bar selection is outstanding. I had no issues being "limited" to using them (except for one small thing noted below).  We had a few complaints, but they don't rise to the level of the dinging their review level. But they are things I think people would want to know.  1) the getting ready space for the bride is amazing. Two full suites, each with a private bathroom, one set up perfectly for hair and makeup while the other is set up perfectly for mimosas, changing, hanging out during some downtime, etc. The same cannot be said for the groom suite. It is separate from the bridal space (which is great for couples who are not doing a first look like we did), but there is no private bathroom. The space itself is outside of the main building (think a shed, but a really nice shed) and if the groom needs to use the bathroom, he has to come in to the main space, right next to where the bride is getting ready. We had to have a groomsman escort my husband to and from the bathroom to make sure I wasn't out getting photos taken or anything like that. The space for the groom also wasn't very large. We had a total of 5 people in their and they said it was cramped. If you have more than that, be aware.  2) the bar has a strict No Shots policy, which I completely understand. What we weren't expecting is that the policy also includes drinks like bourbon or scotch. Ultimately, that wasn't a huge deal, but it was something that surprised us since those aren't typically "shots."  Again, overall our experience was amazing. The venue is so beautiful. The people were so helpful. The bartender was amazing. I would absolutely recommend that venue to anyone. I don't want that two things I mentioned to be taken too seriously. They had very little effect on the day overall. It was a stunning day at a stunning venue. I couldn't have asked for a better venue.

  • Poor Experience- Cancelled Booking

My fiance and I were very excited to book this Venue for our wedding next year- expecially with all of their great reviews! However, beginning with our initial phone call with Kim to book- to our now cancellation, it has been very difficult to have a positive experience with this venue. There has been multiple occasions of rude interruptions during phone calls, inconsistency with follow up calls/contracts and difficulty overall with proper communication. My fiance and I still chose to move forward with signing contracts and sending over the deposit, due to the many positive reviews and the beautiful location. _ My fiance is in the army. We did receive notice that he will no longer be able to have set dates for our wedding next year- as he could be deployed or in a different country at any time. With this notice, we went ahead with cancelling our wedding. From booking to cancellation, it had only been 16 days. Upon booking, we signed a contract and paid a 1000 down payment- this was completely understandable to hold our wedding date. I never expected a refund of any amount, due to the contract in place, but had still connected with them to see if there was any way that they would do a courtesy partial refund due to the circumstances with the military- and with how soon we needed to cancel from our original booking date. As a business owner myself, I do understand having down payments and contracts in place. However, I am very disheartened with this venue’s business ethics and lack of empathy and understanding towards their customers/clients.

Hi Emilee, We’re truly sorry to hear that you feel disappointed with your experience. We want to take a moment to clarify our policies, which are outlined in every contract: deposits are non-refundable, and deposit transfers are only permitted if the decision is made at least 9 months prior to the event, and for a date within 1 year. In your case, your wedding was scheduled less than 6 months away, but we still made an exception by allowing you to transfer your deposit and even extending the transfer window to 2 years — something we don’t normally do. We did this because we value our couples and want to support them as best we can. We understand that wedding planning can be stressful, and our goal is always to provide kindness and flexibility within the framework of our policies. We wish you the very best moving forward, and again we are sorry that our accommodations did not meet your expectations.

The Sycamore at Mallow Run was an incredible venue for our wedding! The Mallow Run team (especially our wedding coordinator Amy) was incredibly responsive and helpful in planning our big day. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, with beautiful vineyards and a spacious, lovely interior space that provided the perfect backdrop for our celebration. We could not have asked for a better value or a more amazing experience.
