About this venue

The rustic yet elegant charm of The Barn at the Ackerhurst Dairy Farm offers you a truly unique setting in a "one of a kind" historic event venue. The beautiful Dutch Gambrel style barn was built in 1935. A businessman and dairy farmer from Boston named Anthony W. Ackerman hired architect and builder Adolph Otte from the nearby town of Elkhorn, NE., to construct the barn. Upon its completion, the Ackerhurst Dairy Barn was described as the largest barn in Nebraska. The barn is rectangular in shape and is constructed of wood with a concrete block foundation. The Barn is nearly two hundred feet long. The Barn, though constructed as two levels, is as tall as a four-story building. In a newspaper article in the Omaha World Herald, it was described that Ackerhurst Dairy was “one of finest dairy farms in the Midwest”. Mr. Ackermann did not know, back in 1935, that his dream would someday become a location of the beginning of a lot of dreams come true.

The Milking Parlor

The Milking Parlor is a beautiful combination of rustic and vintage and maintains many aspects of its original appearance.

The Milking Parlor is a beautiful combination of rustic and vintage. The Milking Parlor can accommodate up to 250 guests at tables with a dancefloor but is used the most for the cocktail hour following the ceremony. The Milking Parlor is the perfect alternate to an outside ceremony in case of inclement weather.
