About this venue

Facing "most endangered" status from the National Historical Registry, The Temple For Performing Arts received a new life with renovations finished in October 2002. Downtown Preservation Partners led a restoration team experienced in historic rehabilitation. The pre-renovation building was missing its cornice and awnings, and most exterior windows were damaged. While the interior architecture is the "real jewel," architects carefully restored the exterior to its original look. The venue offers facilities like the Grand Hall, Recital Hall, and Performance Hall for receptions, weddings, concerts, and meetings, with tailored audio-visual, catering, and entertainment options.

The Temple

Host your next event at The Temple.

• Grand Hall: The Grand Hall, located on the fourth floor, spans 4,000 square feet. Architecturally considered the jewel of The Temple, the Grand Hall accommodates up to 450 people seated theater style, about 275 for a sit-down dinner with a head table, or 350 people for a sit-down dinner without a head table. The Hall features beautifully restored stained glass sky lights, elegant two-story columns, and ornate original light fixtures and sculpted ceiling. • Recital Hall: The Recital Hall, located on the fourth floor, is 1,200 sq. ft., and seats 200 people theater style, or 70 people for a sit down dinner.This room is the ideal size for smaller gatherings, or as a break away room in conjunction with the Grand Hall. The Recital Hall features three, large stained glass windows, trompe l'oeil stone painting and a beautiful hardwood floor.

• Bridal Suite: A cozy room fully equipped with sofa chairs, a luxurious red couch, TV with cable, clothing racks, a soda fridge, makeup room with full-length mirrors, bright lighting and running water. This is the perfect space to relax and get ready for any event on location. • Groom's Room: This room is located just up the side stairs on the 5th floor. It's located near the Recital Hall and offers an open space with sofa chairs, clothing rack, mirrors, soda fridge and a long table for hanging with the guys and playing cards. This is a great spot to chill out and store items for your event on location.
