BEWARE - We got married at Poplar Springs Manor exactly one month ago, on December 6th 2025. The venue itself is beautiful and the day went without any issues for the most part. As we were boarding our flight for our honeymoon two days later, we got an email from Poplar Springs informing us that the hardwood floors had been scratched and that they would be getting an estimate on how much it would cost to repair before they could let us know how much of our 1,000 damage deposit we would get back. A few weeks later, Poplar Springs informed us that we would owe 35,000 to repair the scratches in the floor (which is more than we paid for our entire wedding). We are not wealthy and this is not the kind of money we have laying around for unexpected expenses, especially while starting our lives together and trying to save to buy our first house. I personally do not understand how they could think this is a reasonable course of action and how they would not have their own insurance to cover such types of damage, considering they are an event venue. It feels as though they wanted to refinish the floors of the entire venue rather than fix one scratch and are looking to outsource the cost. We are preparing to get a lawyer to fight these expenses, which in itself is expensive with legal fees and such. I am incredibly disappointed that this is how our experience with Poplar Springs has turned out, and is casting such a negative cloud over our wedding only one month later. I would heavily caution any couple considering any of The Manors venues to take this into consideration before booking this for your special day and avoid the pain we are now going through.

Best tour we ever had! We must have at least 10 venues and Poplar Springs Manor was the one!! So scenic, charming, and huge! We booked it immediately. A special thank you to Rob for helping make this easy. He's awesome!

  • Beautiful venue. Not for perfect planners.

The venue got us because it is beautiful without any decor. The house and stonework is beautiful, but we couldn't even capture that in photos due to poor planning from venue's coordinator. Huge issue with bathrooms for our wedding. The women’s bathroom was out of order and the men’s bathroom stalls were too tiny to use and not being cleaned. One of the bridal suite bathrooms was out of order all day as well. A guest waited so long for the bathroom that they missed dinner and when she came back the buffet was gone. When they asked for another meal, they were denied. We paid more for the buffet and were told they made enough entrees for each person to have both, but they took it away so fast, I don’t think they made enough food. One of the passed apps only went around once. We brought in 3 additional stationary apps and they were gone very fast. People said the food they had was good, but they were hungry. I also couldn’t eat most of my plate because my knife was so dull it was a butter knife and I couldn’t get through the beef or broccoli to cut it. We brought our own late night food as well, and that was also devoured because people didn’t get enough of the main meal. A lot of guests didn’t know cake was out because it was not announced. All of the management that we signed with was gone less than a year later. Once they get your money, it is poor communication. For brides who are planners- this venue is not for you! Everything is done very last minute. Seating chart was ready less than 2 weeks ahead of time. Estimated budget they gave during our tour was so far off from actual. The rate starts at about 35,000 for 125 people for venue fees alone. All together, we spent about 70,000 for our wedding and that was without a florist or any real extras. If you hired a florist, you are probably looking at 80,000. Brides- hair and makeup with trial is 900 for anyone good (I tried a couple) and bridesmaids are 300 each. (Estimate from venue hair and makeup was 150 bride & 75 bridesmaid- they are so far off from reality.) They put out the wrong chargers, even after we corrected her at the confirmation email. They said they packed everything from the bar and they didn’t. We are missing items that never got put out and were not returned. They do cater to the brides and try to keep you happy. Sauce got on the dress and they had stain remover available. They did ask multiple times if we needed anything. We had horrible communication with the inn. The day of coordinator we got through the venue messed up the times. I repeatedly said that first look photos were to start at 1:00. The coordinator told the photographer 2:15 for photos to start, so the photographer was very late. We did not have time to do all our couple photos before the ceremony and didn’t have time during cocktail hour either. For this venue, management can only accommodate about 80 people. The guest to service ratio was off. I would recommend off site day of coordinator because the one from the venue messed up photos, which was the more important thing to me.

When we first reached out to Poplar Springs Manor, their team was incredibly responsive, friendly, and accommodating. The moment we saw the venue, we knew this was the place for our big day. The stunning tree line, the historic manor house, two bridal suites, and a beautiful ballroom - this place has it ALL. The venue is stunning, with a charming and intimate feel that made our special day feel warm and welcoming. They went above and beyond to make our experience special, allowing us into the bridal suite early since we had rented out the inn the night before the wedding. We loved the bar area for cocktail hour and some fun post-party photo opps. The food was also absolutely delicious - our guests raved about it. We could not have asked for a more perfect venue to celebrate our marriage, and we are so grateful to the Poplar Springs Manor team for making our wedding day truly unforgettable.
