Don’t get me wrong, our wedding was great. The venue is beautiful and the food was fantastic. The main issues came from Amanda, their coordinator. Her communication was lacking throughout most of the day resulting in last minute demands, which during a day that was scheduled down the minute, was very odd. It’s something one could expect of a cheaper venue, not some place like the Hyeholde. 

One example of these demands was a demand for the final payment and bar tab from the bride, at the end of the wedding night, after an evening of partying. I can’t stress enough how weird it was to end the evening that way, especially when everyone had been drinking. A much better way of handling a pay-per-consumption bar tab would be to send an invoice the next day, again, something I would expect by a venue of this caliber. 

There were also wasps in the room where the men were told to get ready, along with no mirror. The groomsmen had to run to IKEA and pick up a cheap one. The men were also told by Amanda, right before walking down the aisle, that they had to clear their stuff from the room so they could open it for dinner service. Needless to say, that caused some chaos on a day where extra time comes at a premium. 

Again, the venue is beautiful and worth the cost, and these demands were not enough to ruin the day or anything, but thinking back on it, we just can’t give the venue 5 stars. The demands during the day were just too unnecessary, and some other miscommunications along the way didn’t help. All in all, there’s easy fixes to make, and the venue could be a perfect one. But the coordinator controls the experience, and that’s where the issues lie.
