    Perfect Start to the Celebration

We had the most amazing welcome party at JH History Museum! It was the perfect place to start our weekend festivities - from the location, to the outdoor space, and the staff - it was all perfect. Thank you so much to the team for all of your help and support!!

150 olive green stacking plastic chairs 12 white conference style tables that comfortably fit two people on each side, they measure 5ft long, 2 ft wide and 2.5ft tall. If you plan to use museum furniture, you are responsible for moving the items from the basement storage room to your desired location and back after use. Any damage to the furniture will be billed to you after the event.
We do not have linens. We recommend renting them from your caterer, High Country Linen, or Canvas Unlimited.
Caterers can have access to the kitchen area prior to your event start time. We have key cards that can be given to the catering staff so they may use the outside door to enter and get set up. We do not allow cooking inside the Museum Catering Kitchen due to lack of ventilation. However, a small grill or cook station may be set up outside away from all buildings.
On the rooftop deck we have a retractable covering that can be pulled out to partially cover the deck. The covering will automatically retract if wind gusts above 25 mph. The main patio is also partially covered and can be a good back up space. The event can also be moved indoors and depending on the date/time of your event the main gallery, lobby, and hallway can be used as an indoor space.
Trash needs to be taken off site after your event. Often your caterer can take care of this for you.
Noise Permits can be obtained through the Jackson Police Department and are required for any outdoor sound planned after 7:00pm. The client is responsible for obtaining this permit
Most insurance companies offer this type of Private Event Liability Insurance. Check with your insurance provider or use a quick google search to compare rates.
No. However, we do require a day of contact who is not the client. This can be a trusted member of your extended family, or an organized friend. It needs to be someone who Museum staff can contact during the day of the event.
We ask that the primary clean up happens the same day as your event. Rented equipment often needs to be picked up the following day. If this is the case for your event, please instruct the pickup crew to come between 10:00am and noon the day after your event. Please plan to have the venue completely cleared out by noon the day after. If you do store items overnight, they must be broken down as much as possible and placed against the side of the building (on the terrace) or in the catering kitchen. Please be respectful of regular museum operations and plan to tidy your items when storing them.
Yes. Rented furniture/equipment can be stored in the catering kitchen prior to your scheduled setup time slot; in some cases, we can accommodate your equipment the day before if arranged with Museum Staff. Please note the Museum is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday, so staging of your furniture must not interfere or interfere minimally with the visitor experience.
We do have Wi-Fi available throughout the site, indoors and outdoors.
We have a 100-inch TV, OWL meeting device, speakers and microphones that can be used for your event.
We do not have a preferred vendor list. Most caterers have found our space easy to use and can accommodate your needs. We are happy to show your caterers around the space.
No, we do not allow any type of open flame at the Museum.
We have two sets of stairs and one elevator.
Roof Deck: We allow electric heaters on the roof top deck only if cords do not cause a tripping hazard. Patio: We allow propane heaters on the patio if they are placed 5 feet away from all buildings and flammable objects.
We do not offer a ventilated space for caterers to cook, our catering space does not have a bult in oven or stove. However, our catering space has outlets that can handle warming ovens. Caterers may also use propane flat top grills and other pre-approved grills outside on the concrete 15 feet away from the building. They may also use the loading zone concrete pad for this purpose but must not interrupt the use of the bike path (dark grey concrete).
