Cunningham farm is a boutique Maine wedding venue set in picturesque New Gloucester, Maine - located between Portland, Auburn, Brunswick and Freeport. Cunningham Farm is primarily used as a venue for estate, barn and outdoor (personal information protected by Zola) property boasts more than 90 acres of land inclusive of three event barns, a farmhouse, a pond, a river, a meandering brook, rock walls, and an iconic tree farm - complete with a white farm fence - there couldn’t be a more beautiful property to serve as a backdrop for your magical day.

We provide a ceremony arbor and ceremony benches for up to 200 guests located at our main ceremony site overlooking the pond. Couples looking to be married elsewhere can choose to set up a pop-up site at our pond, in any of the barns, along an old rock wall, next to an apple tree, or any spot you deem perfect on our 12 acres of manicured fields.

    The Perfect Spot

    Cunningham Farm Events was the perfect spot for our wedding. When we first toured the venue last year, we knew it we wanted to have our wedding there. Not only does it look exactly like the pictures, but you truly have access to the entire property. We used one of the barns for our rehearsal dinner and had lawn games going on outside. Matt was so helpful in making sure that we had everything we needed, and he really encouraged us to spend as much time on the property as we wanted. All of our vendors lit up when we told them we were having our wedding there & each spoke about how incredible Matt & Abby are. They truly truly care about you having your dream wedding here, and I cannot recommend them enough!

    Everything we could have dreamed

    I can't speak highly enough of Cunningham Farms. Matt and Abby were so great to work with - they really go above and beyond for their guests and are so friendly and professional. They gave great recommendations for other vendors and have built in so many great amenities - flawless rain-day plan (no need for a tent!)! Onsite bathroom! Built-in bars! All of this without mentioning the absolutely GORGEOUS property itself. The pine tree farm is the secret-garden-forest of my dreams. I would never want to get married anywhere else, the experience here was perfect from start to finish!

    Highly recommended from a wedding planner!

    We love working at Cunningham Farm! Abby and Matt are such an incredible support team when we are on-site, and they keep the property in impeccable order. We feel lucky to work at such a beautiful venue. Our clients love the property's versatility with the multiple barns and tree farm. Cunningham Farm also offers an elevated barn experience with its high-end bathrooms and beautiful built-in bar. We couldn't recommend this venue enough!

    Love from a photographer

    Show me a barn venue with sturdier more refined "fancy" barn vibes. We were friends with the original owners of this venue and even now that it has changed hands, the quality of service remains. This is a sure bet in our eyes.

    6/11/22 Wedding

    I had my wedding June 11, 2022 and could not have asked for a more amazing venue. It is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS and naturally beautiful. Absolutely stunning and unique. My guests can't stop talking about how special the wedding venue was and were constantly wowed by the authentic Maine forest surrounding. The new owners, Matt and Abby, were incredibly responsive, helpful, and flexible when we needed help. We had catered food for the bridal suite the morning of but they forgot to include silverware! Matt ran out personally and got us some. They made the wedding venue feel really personal for the day, not just another hotel ballroom. The barns offer unique ways to make your wedding truly yours. We used the smaller barn for the cocktail hour which was fun to have people milling about, then fit 150 people for a seated dinner reception and a big band and dance floor! Tons of space, tons of dancing, and beautiful brand new bathrooms and bar off to the side. It really is a special location to have a wedding and your guests will truly be wowed.

Couples are welcome to purchase their own beer, wine, and alcohol for the event. We do require host liquor liability insurance with your event insurance, and all alcohol must be served by a professional bartending service that has General Liability Insurance. Your caterer may also be able to provide this service, so make sure you check! Cash bars are not allowed.
Yes! Introduce your guests to the property by bringing them down a tree-lined farm road looking above the pond. Our parking lot accommodates 80+ vehicles. We also have farm road access to the barns for easy rental drop-off and pick-up, as well as to allow for golf cart rentals if any guests need easier accessibility. All our barns’ decks include ramps for wheelchair accessibility.

Because of our three barns and 90+ acres, Cunningham Farm can accommodate weddings from as small as an elopement to 250+ guests with a tent brought on site. Our largest barn is 2880 sq. ft. of entertaining space and we suggest no more than 200 guests for a seated dinner. We suggest no more than 175 guests if allowing space for a DJ/Band and dance floor. As guest lists approach 200, dinner in a tent (either in the field or adjoining a barn) with dancing in the barn is a great option! Our tent season is June through November.
Rental items, including tables and chairs, are chosen by you and brought on site to match the style you envision for your day. We can recommend a handful of rental companies that will help customize your design and will provide a simple drop-off to have everything waiting for you at the start of your rental! Cunningham Farm asks anyone renting the property to break down any rentals for pick-up by the rental company. We also require all trash, recycling, composting, etc., be removed. These services are often able to be provided by your caterer and/or planner - so make sure to ask!
Yes! We have our Something Blue Suite, where parties can get ready right on site the day of their event. The Carriage Barn is also a popular spot to use as a pre-ceremony lounge area.
The property is yours from 12:00pm-8:00pm the day before, 8:00am-10:30pm on your wedding day, and 8:00am-10:00am the following day.
Our Dairy Barn has optional heat. For couples wishing to heat the Hay and Carriage barns as well, we're happy to chat about the best way to bring heat on site to warm these spaces in the shoulder months.
Just like with rentals, we want you to set-up the property to fit your dream wedding plans. There are no specific vendors a couple must use, but all vendors must be properly licensed and insured. We are happy to recommend a variety of highly reputable wedding professionals to help guide your decisions, too
Cunningham Farm does not offer overnight accommodations. We are happy to help point you and your guests to a number of convenient options – from home rentals, lake houses, B&B’s, to major chain hotels - located right in town, or close by in Freeport, Brunswick, and Portland.
Lighting, electricity, and water. While we welcome additional lighting to set the tone for your event, each barn is fully equipped with sufficient lighting that includes a wagon wheel chandelier in the Carriage Barn, four 8-light chandeliers in the Hay Barn, and four light fans with 10 barn sconces in the Dairy Barn reception space. Ample electricity for catering, band, additional light, etc., to all the barns (50-400 amps). Water hook-ups to each barn exterior. The Dairy Barn also has a wet bar, a designated, empty catering space to eliminate the cost of a catering tent, guest restrooms, and heat.
We have a designated ceremony site in a shaded part of the field which overlooks our pond. This site includes a ceremony arbor and ceremony seating for up to 200 guests.
Yes! We have a great outdoor ceremony site, or you are welcome to create your own or utilize one of the barns. The barns also make an easy and beautiful back-up plan in inclement weather, allowing you to forgo any last minute tent rentals or reshuffling your reception space. Rehearsal or welcome dinners are also welcome within the rental period. Any additional meals served on site must use licensed and insured caterers/bartenders. Please keep in mind any additional clean-up or rentals that must be brought on site to accommodate these events.
We do not offer planning services. We are, however, more than happy to answer any and all questions we can for you or your hired professionals during both the planning and event itself! We are also glad to point you in the right direction when searching for your vendor team. For weddings 99 people or under, we require our couples to hire a Month-of-Coordinator to help make sure your day runs as smoothly as possible. For weddings 100 people and over, we require a full-service wedding planner to be hired. Seamless, fun events are important to us, and we know an experienced wedding coordinator/planner will help bring your vision to life.
Yes! We allow up to two venue-appropriate animals to be a part of your ceremony and/or pictures only.
We will send you a contract that lists your wedding date. We require a 50% non-refundable deposit and signed contract to hold your date. The remaining balance is due 60 days prior to your event. We also require event insurance with host liquor liability, which is easily purchased for under $200 from a provider like wedsafe.com or eventhelper.com.
