    Could Have Been Better

Chandlers Banquets in Schaumburg has a beautiful space with large windows and a warm atmosphere that made our guests feel right at home. The food was delicious and everyone left satisfied, and our cake was such a hit that people are still talking about it. However, we had some real communication challenges during the planning process. Our original coordinator left partway through, and we struggled to get responses to emails after that. The new coordinator felt a bit distant, which added stress to our planning. Despite these hiccups, the venue itself and the catering team delivered on the day, and our guests had a wonderful time.

    6/26 Wedding

100% honest review. Our wedding day was ultimately the best day of my life because I married my love, but our experience with the management at Chandler’s was a massive rollercoaster. I am sharing this so future couples know what to watch out for. The Management Switch & Broken Promises: We toured with Heidi, who was enthusiastic and caring. We trusted her verbal promises—which was our first mistake. Get EVERYTHING in writing. After signing the contract and paying the deposit, Heidi ghosted us. I called her line only to find out she no longer worked there. Lisa took over, and the experience went downhill. It felt like she wanted to do the bare minimum. Because Heidi's promises weren't in writing, Lisa refused to honor them. The Golf Cart: We were promised a golf cart for photos. Lisa refused it. The golf shop manager took weeks to return our calls. (Pro tip: It is actually cheaper for 4 people to play a round of golf than to rent a cart for photos here). Planning Stress: We had to repeat our vision constantly. Lisa kept pushing her own ideas, forcing us to literally draw diagrams of our room layout. The Uplighting: I had to explicitly verify our uplighting was included, even though the original coordinator promised it. The Day-Of Staffing & Coordination Failures- The Patio: Guests were told they could use the beautiful back patio during cocktail hour. Instead, 145 guests were cooped into a tiny, hot entrance room. No staff communicated to them about the outside area. My husband (the groom!) had to play coordinator and usher people outside himself. Disappearing Act: We saw Lisa maybe once or twice the whole night. We felt completely abandoned when we had questions. Short-Staffed: Food and family-style refills took a long time to hit the tables. The Bar Tab: We had an open bar tab. Days later, my brother told me he witnessed a staff member continuously tapping "1" on the register for 3 solid minutes straight. We were never given an itemized receipt. The Food & Venue (The Highlights) The Food: The family-style chicken and salmon were great. The Cake: The chocolate vanilla mocha cake from Central Continental Bakery was the absolute talk of the night! However, despite having 8 no-shows, I (the bride) never got a single piece. It completely vanished. The Room: The natural lighting, windows, and black/purple decor looked stunning. The Post-Wedding Cleanup- The next day, we had to go back because they forgot to give us our cake top and cake topper. They claimed they lost the topper, but my husband actually found it himself by digging through their coffee/cake room. The Verdict-Would I go back to Chandler's? Realistically, no. The trust was entirely broken once the staff changed. However, I would absolutely order from Central Continental Bakery again!
