About this venue
Originally a historic one-room Montana schoolhouse and teacherage, this property is now part of a charming collection of thoughtfully preserved buildings and gardens. These unique spaces include sleeping areas and have been lovingly reimagined as an intimate gathering place full of warmth and character to explore and enjoy. Tucked away as one of Montana’s best-kept secrets, couples are drawn to its nostalgic charm, cozy atmosphere, and the opportunity to make the grounds their own for an entire weekend, creating a relaxed, immersive celebration with their closest people. It’s a venue that feels both meaningful and effortlessly romantic, offering a rare sense of privacy, connection, and experience that’s hard to find elsewhere!

This rental is the indoor option of our Storybook Micro-Wedding, but allows for larger services indoors during the off-season.

A Truly Magical Montana Wedding Venue
We truly cannot say enough good things about the 9 Mile Schoolhouse. From the moment you pull in, it just feels special. It has that perfect Montana setting with open meadows, trees, and mountains, but still feels really intimate and personal at the same time. The venue itself is full of charm and history. It’s an old one room schoolhouse that has been beautifully restored, and you can tell so much thought has gone into every detail. The indoor spaces feel cozy and romantic with all the vintage touches, and the outdoor areas are just as incredible for ceremonies, dinners, and gathering with your people. Everywhere you look, it feels intentional. What really makes this place stand out, though, is Jess. She is absolutely amazing to work with. She’s kind, responsive, and genuinely cares about making your day feel special and stress free. You can feel how much she loves this place and how much she pours into every wedding. She has such a gift for creating an experience that feels both relaxed and magical at the same time. Whether you are planning a full weekend, something small and intimate, or a bigger celebration, the space allows you to truly make it your own. One of the things I love most about this venue is the heart behind it. Jess is incredibly passionate about creating a space that is inclusive and welcoming to everyone, and she gives back to the community in meaningful ways, especially through her support of the Montana Down Syndrome Association. That alone says so much about who she is. If you are looking for a venue that feels authentic, meaningful, and full of heart, this is it. It is not just a beautiful place, it is an experience your guests will remember forever.

Stress-Free, Heart-Full, and So Much Fun
I truly can’t say enough positive things about Jessie and her incredible team at the 9-Mile Schoolhouse. From the moment you arrive, you can feel how much care and intention goes into every single wedding and elopement they host. Jessie is the kind of person you instantly feel comfortable around—fun, warm, and genuinely caring—and that energy carries through the entire experience. She goes above and beyond to make sure every couple feels supported, celebrated, and completely taken care of. One of the things that makes the 9-Mile Schoolhouse so special is how thoughtfully all-inclusive it can be. From cozy on-site sleeping quarters that can accommodate up to 20 guests, to planning, styling, food, and unique activities—Jessie and her team truly handle it all. It allows couples to relax, be present, and actually enjoy their day without the stress. As someone who has documented weddings and elopements here, I can honestly say it’s one of my favorite venues to work at. Every celebration feels intentional, personal, and full of heart—and that’s a direct reflection of Jessie and her team. If you’re looking for a place where you’ll feel cared for every step of the way, the 9-Mile Schoolhouse is truly something special.

Wonderful Event Space
9 Mile Schoolhouse is a beautiful outdoor setting for a wedding or event. Many aspects of the property including on site accommodations to lawn games make this a unique space to celebrate with family and friends. The scenery is gorgeous and Jessie is a thoughtful and inviting owner who is dedicated to making the day special!
