Hi, I’m Jake Moreland—the photographer behind Two Birds Photography. I’m also a proud dad to three awesome boys (who I lovingly refer to as my unpaid interns) and a rescue cat who keeps me company—mostly by getting in the way in the best possible way. When I’m not behind the camera, you can usually find me out hiking, camping, painting, digging through vinyl records, or making something with my hands. I’ve always been drawn to the soulful, timeless feel of black and white photography, and that sense of honesty and simplicity is at the heart of everything I shoot.
I started Two Birds Photography in 2008 with a love for storytelling and a desire to capture the real stuff—those unposed, joyful moments that make your wedding day uniquely yours. My style is radiant, natural, and full of life. I’m laid-back, easygoing, and I do my best work when you feel like you can simply be yourselves. I’m based in the western suburbs of Chicago and cover the entire Chicago area, including northwest Indiana—but I’m always up for an adventure and happy to travel. And because I believe love should ripple outward, I make a donation to my favorite animal rescue with every wedding I photograph.

Jake is AMAZING
Jake is hands a down the best photographer out there. He was absolutely amazing to work with, professional, speedy, and efficient. We had a few inspiration photos but most let him run free with poses and style and we are SO glad we did. It’s honestly hard to pick our favorite pictures out of the gallery because they are all absolutely stunning.

Jake is so much more than a wedding photographer—he’s a true visual storyteller. Every photo he took is filled with emotion, intention, and artistry. Looking at our photos now, I’m instantly transported back. He captured not only the big moments but also the quiet ones: stolen glances, joyful guests, the delicate details of our table settings. From the moment we first spoke with Jake and Emily of Two Birds Photography, we knew we were in good hands. Their communication style was both professional and personal, making us feel at ease and excited for our wedding day. The quality of their work was amazing - they patiently and perfectly captured all the special moments, from the trampoline antics and inflatable ball tosses to the intimate candids and group photos. Working with Jake for our engagement and wedding photos was wonderful! He’s kind and helped us feel comfortable in front of the camera.
