About The Drawhorns

Jess & Austin Drawhorn

We're Jess and Austin Drawhorn — married adventure elopement photographers based in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. We’ve been planning & photographing elopements all over the world since 2017. We believe in social justice, equality, science, kindness – in following your heart and trusting your gut and finding your passions in life. We care about protecting the environment and respecting animals. We’re big fans of humanity too, in helping people, and we’re willing to see the best in everyone. We’re doing our best to live these beliefs every day and to lead lives we’re proud of.

In short: we’re here for you. A large part of our job is helping people feel comfortable being who they are – in front of cameras(for maybe the first time), in clothes they’ve probably never worn, in a place they’ve probably never been. It’s light guidance and direction without making you feel micromanaged, giving you the space to actually explore an incredible location together, kissing and touching and laughing the way you normally do. We really want you to look back on your photos and see not only what you look like but who you are, together.

Description

The two of you, the two of us, hiking out somewhere incredible in the mountains a bit further off the beaten path. Four hours is great for a ceremony and a 1-4 mile hike or off road excursion.

    Incredibly Kind and Thoughtful Photographers

    I've worked with The Drawhorns for a couple of years and have witnessed them interact with all different types of people on their elopement day. Every time I get to work with them, I'm blown away by their empathy, compassion and thoughtful approach to creating an elopement experience that is truly tailored to each and every person they work with. From casual hikes to beautiful vistas to offroading adventures through the mud in the rugged San Juan mountains, The Drawhorns can do it all... and they do it all with a smile! You'll hire them as photographers but you'll discover you may just get a couple of close friends by the end of it :)

Typically, couples book us about 6-10 months before their wedding date. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame. Depending on our availability, we can definitely plan elopements in as little as two weeks!
Nope! Our team is just Jess, Austin and Roo. We do have a strong network of back-up photographers in case of emergency though!
Of course, Austin is our in-house editor and all of our packages include a a beautiful final gallery with full-resolution downloads.
We sure do! Our team film maker Roo is super talented and the three of us make a great team.
We send out a few sneak peeks by the next day so you have something to celebrate right away! The rest of your images will be delivered within 4 weeks.
Honestly – this number varies SO much based on your package and how the day goes. More important than a number is a reassurance that our photos will tell the full story of what you experience, without so many images that you feel overwhelmed.
Absolutely – we carry full liability and are always happy to provide certificates of insurance. We also have back up gear and a great system for backing up our images so there's no fear of ever losing them.
In our 5 years of experience as photographers, we've never cancelled a booking. In the very rare event that one or both of us is unable to photograph your wedding, we'll make sure you’re covered by one of our trusted colleagues OR offer flexible rescheduling options.
Absolutely, planning is a huge part of what we do. We've got a great system for helping each of our couples find perfect locations that fit their needs, and we provide a ton of guidance on permits, your timeline, activities, vendors, your ceremony and how your families fit into the day.
We welcome up to 10 guests to join for elopements, and as long as our location and plan are suitable you can totally bring your kiddos and dogs as well!
The only acceptable answer is – OF COURSE. We've been so lucky to work with couples of all kinds and try our best everyday to honor the needs and identity of each person in front of our camera.
