I'm Sydney, the photographer behind Sydney Marie Photography. Based in Grand Rapids and serving couples throughout Michigan and Chicago, I’ve been photographing weddings since 2012 and have documented more than 300 celebrations. My approach blends natural, candid moments with gently guided portraits to create imagery that feels timeless, refined, and true to each couple. From the first conversation to the final gallery, I provide a high-touch experience so you feel supported, present, and able to fully enjoy every moment of your wedding day.

Our Best Vendor Decision
Aside from getting married, choosing Sydney Marie Photography was the best decision we made regarding vendors. Sydney kept us in the loop throughout the entire planning process - sometimes we needed that extra communication and we appreciated it more than we expected. We scheduled an Engagement Session to get to know her in person first and get comfortable with the camera and it was so worth it because not only did we get incredible shots, we also got to know her on a personal level which helped guide all conversations and interactions leading up to the wedding. Engagement photos came back quick, and we loved what we saw. She even came into town to do the venue walkthrough with us and see our hotel getting ready space which was above and beyond what we expected her to do. It didn't matter that she was based out of Michigan - she knew Chicago and the wedding scene so well, and was availble for anything we needed. Her years of experience shined through in helping us plan photo locations and curating the perfect timeline and shot list. We felt ready for the big day thanks to her. On the day of our wedding, she had this natural ability to capture moments as they happened while staying flexible enough to try new ideas we threw her way. She genuinely felt like part of our celebration rather than someone hovering in the background. Sydney guided us when we needed direction but mostly let our love and joy shine through in every shot. We are already obsessed with our sneak peek and cannot wait to see the whole album. We are moving to Michigan later next year (where she is located) and will definitely be keeping Sydney in mind for any future photoshoots our life may bring our way. Who knew a photographer could make or break how everything came together? Sydney was certainly our glue. We cannot recommend her highly enough.

Best wedding photographer in Michigan!
I had been following Sydney on Instagram for a while and reached out as soon as we were engaged. I knew she was amazing from her work, but I was blown away with her attention to detail and her attention to us. She made us feel at ease from day one, and took the time during our engagement session to make my husband feel comfortable in front of the camera. Our images are STUNNING, I can't stop looking at them. Thank you again Sydney for everything, you made our dream day come true!

Best decision we made
Hiring Sydney was the best decision we ever made. I was a little nervous not meeting with her before our wedding, but Sydney reassured me and laid everything out perfectly in her questionnaire. She has an amazing eye for detail and kept us on track with our timeline. Sydney has been photographing weddings for years, and it really shows. She made us feel comfortable during both our engagement session and our wedding day. If you’re looking to book Sydney don’t even think twice, and add an engagement session!! 11/10 AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHER!
When I was looking for a wedding photographer, Sydney stood out against the rest of them. She is so quick to email you back, is friendly and knowledgeable about all aspects of weddings. When it came to our engagement session she gave us ideas for locations and just made the whole experience so fun and easy. My husband hates his photos being taken and he enjoyed our engagement session and loved talking to Sydney's husband who was with her. When it came to our wedding day, Sydney has this awesome questionnaire that answers everything! There were questions on there I never even thought about!! She showed up early and found places for portraits and checked in on me. She's just the sweetest and made our day so special, even through the stressful parts. She was a blast at our reception dancing with everyone on the dance floor while taking photos, like I said she made the day even better. We were sitting in our hotel room the night of our wedding and I got a Facebook notification from Sydney Marie Photography, Sydney had posted 10 photos from our wedding, I couldn't believe it and it made me so happy. I can't thank Sydney enough for everything, if you're looking for a photographer do not hesitate and hire her.

Beautiful photos and communicates well!
I have worked alongside Sydney multiple times at weddings around Michigan and have seen a lot of her process. I can tell you she is big on quick communication and making sure every expectation is clearly defined and communicated prior to the wedding. This is key when you're trying to plan your wedding day and make sure that everything is laid out to be not only efficient but also get you the kinds of photos she's displaying on her website. On the day of the wedding she is always calm, yet at the same time, directive, in a chill and friendly kind of way. She helps everyone relax and enjoy the day, which is a big thing considering the photographer is the person that the wedding couple is going to be around for the vast majority of the day. I know that even though she is a busy photographer, she delivers galleries pretty quickly, because she's showing me some of the galleries that I've shot with her as soon as she's finished with them. So if you're looking for someone who is going to solidly communicate with you through the whole process and then deliver your (quality) photos in a reasonable amount of time, she would be a good choice!
