Steven Cotton Photography

Welcome. Steven is a self-taught photographer who picked up photography when his girlfriend (now wife) Tara got him his first camera as an anniversary gift in 2009. After learning how to use his camera, Steven gravitated toward something that he has always been passionate about - sports; and eventually started a local sports photography website. This gave Steven a lot of experience that ended up helping him transition into portraiture. Fast forward many years of practicing with friends & family members and learning the ins and outs of running a business, Steven took a leap of faith and turned his hobby into his full-time job in 2016.

Steven's photography is strongly influenced by three of the most impactful moments in his life: his marriage to his wife, Tara, in 2011; becoming a father in 2014; and the loss of his grandfather in 2017. Getting married gave him a lot of insight into everything that goes into planning a wedding, and how it is like no other day a couple will ever have... becoming a father was something that put Steve's entire life into perspective.
