New Aera Wedding Photography
New Aera is a New Orleans wedding photography studio led by me, Whit Forrester. I believe we are buds on a branch that's been growing for billions of years. Wedding photos are documents of the moment that two branches on the tree of life decided to grow together. With a documentary and editorial eye, I capture the candid, unscripted moments alongside the beautifully composed ones. From intimate French Quarter elopements to grand celebrations, in New Orleans or abroad, I bring artistry and genuine care to every wedding.
My work doesn’t chase perfection, it leans into feeling, into the strange, beautiful mix of intimacy and unpredictability that defines modern love. Using a combo of film and digital, my imagery is textured and intentional, emerging out of real connections between people in concert with the locations aesthetics. I am told I have a very grounding energy which I use to navigate your day. From California, to Kentucky and New Orleans, I have photographed weddings across the continent, never losing sight of what actually holds weight.

Incredible Photos!
As someone with a photography background, I think the photos are one of the most important parts of a wedding. As someone who is admittedly hard-to-please, I was really nervous that no one would be able to live up to my expectations, but Whit at New Aera did an incredible job! I normally hate the way I look in pictures, but Whit managed to capture the exact moments and angles that made me (and everyone else) look amazing. He has a great sense of composition and lighting, and his style is very editorial/documentary, which I liked. He captured a lot of little moments before and after the wedding - like me putting on the cake-topper or my brother helping take the decorations down after the guests left - and didn't just focus on the "main event." I love that because those moments were kind of a blur at the time, but the pictures help me remember them just as vividly as the moment I said "I do." I can't recommend New Aera highly enough- they are amazing!

Whit of New Aera Wedding Photography was a delight to work with, he was supportive, flexible, and clear in his communication and thought out process. We had a very DIY wedding and didn’t really know what to expect or how to plan for certain aspects and he really walked us through so that we were able to plan well. He is very skilled at cultivating a relaxed atmosphere and was able to make people feel comfortable in front of the camera, especially those who usually are not usually at ease being photographed. Whit blended into our community very naturally, getting beautiful shots of candid moments without being intrusive. We felt incredibly lucky to have such a talented artist documenting our day.
