About Kelsey Smith Photography

Kelsey Smith

Film Wedding Photographer

I'm Kelsey, a film photographer based in Macon, Georgia, photographing weddings and elopements across Georgia, the Carolinas, and the rest of the Southeast. My wife McKenna second shoots weddings with me. Outside of weddings, I make long-term documentary work: my series Please, Don't Leave Me has been exhibited in New York galleries and published as a photo book. That same way of seeing carries into weddings. I'm drawn to the honest, in-between moments, like the hand squeeze before the ceremony or the grandparent everyone keeps checking on.

I shoot real 35mm and medium format film, hand-scanned, with digital alongside so nothing fast gets missed. That combination gives you the color and texture of film without the risk. My approach is documentary: I mostly observe and only step in when it helps, so your photos look like the day felt, not a list of poses. Collections can also include a Super 8 film highlight reel and fine art albums, and the Legacy collection includes travel anywhere in the US.

    Unforgettable Proposal Shoot

We knew Kelsey Smith was our photographer the moment we met him. From our first conversation, he was responsive and easy to work with, and he went above and beyond during the planning process to keep our proposal shoot a secret. When the day came and it started raining, Kelsey he knew exactly what angles he wanted and moved with purpose to capture everything quickly and efficiently. The photos have this nostalgic, warm quality that makes us feel like we're reliving those moments every time we look at them. What really stands out is how he managed to catch our raw emotion and joy despite the weather. Kelsey picked up on our dynamic and leaned into it, celebrating who we are, where other photographers may have asked for generic poses. We couldn't be happier with his work and highly recommend him to any couple looking for a photographer who is both professional and genuinely invested in your shoot.

I photograph most weddings on 35mm and medium format film, with digital alongside for the fast moments and low light. Film is always central to how I work, but shooting both means nothing important gets missed.
I'm based in Macon, Georgia, and photograph weddings and elopements across Georgia, the Carolinas, and the rest of the Southeast. Travel within the region is included in every collection, the Legacy collection includes travel anywhere in the US, and I'm happy to talk about destination weddings abroad.
Documentary first. I spend most of the day observing and only step in to guide portraits and key moments, so your photos show what actually happened, not a list of poses.
Warm, natural color, real grain, and a softness that feels nostalgic without trying to be. Film slows the whole process down, so every frame is chosen with care rather than shot in bursts.
My collections range from $1,600 for elopements and intimate ceremonies up to $8,400 for larger weddings with travel, with the Heirloom collection at $4,495 being where most couples land. Every collection includes travel within the region, and the larger ones add more hours, medium format film, and a Super 8 highlight reel. A second photographer can be added to other collections as well.
Yes! My wife McKenna second shoots weddings with me. A second photographer is included in the Legacy collection and can be added to other collections too. Having two of us means one can stay with the ceremony while the other catches reactions, family, and the in-between moments.
