A former newspaper photographer & editor, I truly love to capture authentic moments as they happen - commonly known as lifestyle photography. My favorite photos are storytelling moments filled with happiness & love. I'm also a sucker for gorgeous light, sunsets, trees, and ALL naturally beautiful outdoor settings. I'm a bit of a romantic and LOVE catching those in between funny moments when no one thinks I'm watching. My Client for Life program evolved when so many couples came back to me for newborn and family sessions - I LOVE building that relationship and becoming "their" photographer for life.

    Bride

    Heather Hughes gave us the most incredible photos and was a lifesaver at our wedding! Her pictures are downright magical, and she stepped in to save the day when our timeline went awry and our venue coordinator dropped the ball. She was such a joy to have around on our special day, and did a fantastic job of keeping everyone on track while also knowing when to let the schedule flex. She was an invaluable part of our wedding and we are so excited to use her for our soon-to-come newborn photos!

I always have an assistant to help with the lights, arranging your dress, and assist overall and for weddings larger than 150 people I usually recommend two photographers. I only work with other professional photographers with at least 8 years of experience photographing weddings so you can rest assured you are in good hands with my team.
You can expect about 500-800 images for an 8 hour wedding day. But keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your number of guests, hours, 1 or 2 photographers, and other factors.
I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.
In my 18 years of experience as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booking. In the very rare event that I’m unable to photograph your wedding, I’ll make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues or my husband (also a professional photographer). I’ll also provide you with a list of photographers from the many networking groups I’m in, so you can find the perfect replacement.
Absolutely. All final images will be cropped & edited for color, saturation, exposure, and sharpness to ensure they look beautiful. I also offer retouching services like blemish removal, signature edits, and more sometimes for an additional charge.
No, I prefer focusing on photography only, so you can get the best wedding pictures possible. But I do have a short list of professional videographers I'm happy to share with you.
Typically, you’ll be able to view your photos online about 4-5 weeks after your wedding. Within this time, you can also expect to receive a USB drive with high-resolution image files, so you can share the photos with your loved ones and order prints.
Typically, couples book me about 14 months before their wedding date and I only photograph 1 wedding per weekend so I am at my best for my couples. I encourage you to reach out as soon as possible about my availability, even if you’re planning on a shorter time frame.
