I'm a Virginia girl, the oldest of three kids, and happily married to a Virginia guy. I've been crazy about photography since childhood, perfecting my style since elementary school! Decades later, I am thrilled and honored to be capturing priceless moments for my clients as they celebrate their weddings. When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me reading adventure stories to my kids, canning fruits and veggies from our garden, assembling vibrant bouquets of wildflowers, or planning campouts and travels for our family. I'm a sociable introvert who recharges by spending time outside, reading, and editing photos with a cup of tea!

I'm deeply invested in making your images and experience the best they can be! Former couples say my energetic, friendly demeanor elevated the mood and happiness of their day. I love all the creative possibilities that come from working with a variety of couples at a variety of venues. I really enjoy capturing the details that make your celebration unique to you and freezing the candid moments that will bring all the memories of your day rushing back.

    Melinda was awesome!!

    Melinda was absolutely a pleasure to work! She captured all the beauty to be had from Grace Estate Winery, for our couple in October. Her communication response time was always speedy - which made my job much easier. As I worked on the day-of timeline, she was always willing to help me work to ensure the flow of everything - as our tasks intermingled quite a bit. If you're looking for someone to go with the flow, and ensure all your lasting memories are captured - Melinda would be the perfect match!

    Highly Recommend Happy Finch Photography

    Melinda, owner of Happy Finch Photography, is amazing. She took our wedding photos in October 2018. She was so professional to work with and made taking pictures for our wedding so easy. It took 3 weeks to get the pictures back and every picture was given to us in color and black and white. The pictures were so vivid and the colors just popped. We loved our pictures so much we hired Melinda to take family pictures for us a year later. If you’re looking for a photographer in central VA go with Happy Finch Photography.

Sometimes! Most often I work solo, and you will see me scampering around full of energy and doing all the things! Good coordination prior to the wedding is essential for me to be in all the right places at all the right times. However, there are certain circumstances that make having a second photographer important, and this service can be added for a modest additional charge. No worries!
Yes! I do all of the editing myself to make sure your collection is consistent all the way through. My standard retouching includes adjustments to color, contrast, sharpness, cropping, and minor blemishes. I am a generous editor; you can expect roughly 80-100 retouched images per hour of wedding day coverage!
No, but please let me know who your videographer will be so we can join forces to make your wedding day documentation seamless!
My turnaround time varies by season. Typically, you’ll be able to view your photos online about 3-5 weeks after your wedding. Within this time, you can also expect to receive a USB drive with high-resolution image files, so you can share the photos with your loved ones and order prints.
Couples can typically expect to receive about 80-100 retouched images per hour of coverage. There may be slight variations depending on your timeline and other unique wedding day details.
