Congratulations on this exciting journey that you are embarking on! Ahhh, wedding planning! :) I have to tell you that I’m so excited that you’re here, friend. The Velvet Poppy provides couples getting married in the Asheville & Hendersonville, NC area with fresh and gorgeous floral designs and details to make your wedding day swoon worthy. Designed with so much love, so much gratitude, and of course, good vibes. To compliment your yummy floral designs, we love to incorporate plant-dyed silk or velvet ribbon, vintage brass and glass pieces, and of course, candle light (cue the romantic vibes).

Our timeless and vintage inspired floral designs are lovingly crafted by an expert dedicated to making your day as dreamy as you have imagined it to be. When possible (typically April-October), we enjoy sourcing a bulk of our in-season florals from local North & South Carolina flower farmers which not only ensures the freshest and most beautiful blooms grown by people we love and trust, but it is also important to us to maintain a low impact on the Mother (Nature, that is) when we can. Also, who doesn't love supporting local small farmers? We celebrate all kinds of love here and would love to flower for you on your very special day.

    Thoughtful Creative Florals

    Kelsey was one of my favorite parts of our wedding. Her creativity, encouragement, and enthusiasm kept me motivated throughout wedding planning. Everyone was amazed by her hard work and talent. Her florals made the day! I am so moved every time I think of the florals she created for us - each piece was thoughtful and gorgeous. Her talent and careful attention to my wants/needs/dreams was evident in each arrangement. If you are fortunate enough to work with Kelsey, know that your investment is worth every penny and know that you should have a plan in place for preserving her beautiful work! Kelsey is talented, passionate, and determined. I still cannot believe everything she accomplished throughout the wedding day. She arrived early to create the most gorgeous ceremony setting and stayed late to transform those designs several times over - from the reception arrangements, to special ones placed in each hotel room of our guests on premise. It was such a joy to have those flowers with me in the days to follow the wedding. I loved that they were local, as fresh as possible, and completely unique. I’ve never seen flowers like the ones in my bouquet. I’m so thankful for Kelsey’s support and patience as I planned and made up my mind about what I wanted, and I thank her for going above and beyond on her delivery. I did not have a wedding party in effort to keep my wedding small, but having her support was comparable to that of a supportive bridesmaid. So grateful again for her kindness and efforts all the way through.

We offer full service floral design which includes personals, ceremony, and reception florals complimented by candle sticks, votives, hurricanes, and lanterns. Estimated guest count/minimums :: * 2-50 guests / starting at $3,500 * 50-100 guests / starting at $5,000. Although we do not specialize in large events, a guest count of 100+ requires a starting minimum of $7,500 due to a major increase of employees needed, hours of labor, materials, and resources (rental trucks), etc.
Yes. We provide delivery, setup, and breakdown services. Most weddings require a professional setup and breakdown, all within a 12-24 hour period, beginning in the early hours on your wedding day and our services do not end until the very early hours of the following day. Instead of including this "fee" in the price of each design, we choose to keep it separate, since these services are a totally different aspect of the job than the labor that is required on the days leading up to your event. Delivery fees for the first 30 miles start at $300. Breakdown costs are separate, at a minimum of $200 for each hour.
Virtual consultations last approximately 45 minutes-1 hour. It is helpful for you to come prepared with details about your wedding like your budget and style, as well as any inspiration you have for your wedding flowers. Yes, we offer breakdown services along with delivery, set up!
If you are getting married mid April-late October, it is likely we will include local in-season florals. During your virtual consultation, let us know that you are interested in incorporating as many seasonal floral offerings as possible and your preferred color palette. We love teaming with sweet local floral flower farmers to bring you the freshest in-season blooms and greenery.
Yes! We currently include candles to compliment our floral pieces. This includes lanterns, hurricanes, candle sticks, and votives. After the sun goes down, the candle light really ties everything nicely together for a cozy and romantic feel.
We currently do not offer flower preservation, but we do know a few local vendors who provide this service. Just let us know if you are interested in this service and we can guide you in the right direction, depending on what you are looking for!
We suggest 5-8 months prior to your wedding. Before getting started, we recommend having a few details figured out. For example :: Your wedding date, venue, floral budget, estimated wedding guest count, and style. If you are getting married within the next month or two, reach out ASAP to see if we still have your date available. We currently only provide services to one event per week and are currently booking for fall 2024 and beyond.
