Sea Holly Studio takes an artful approach to floral design to create interesting and unique florals. Highlighting seasonal and local blooms to bring 'nature's little moments' to life. Designer, Chris Burleson is a year-round resident on Nantucket, working directly with growers and vendors. Sea Holly Studio is proud to offer only foam-free floral design along with other sustainable floristry practices.

While many feel that the image of Nantucket is manicured lawns and hydrangea-filled weddings, at Sea Holly Studio we know it's so much more than that. Pairing extensive knowledge of florals with an artful approach, we work to bring your personal floral vision to life. We're firm believers that every wedding should be unique to you... and so should your florals! With 15 years in hospitality and over a decade on Nantucket, Chris has long standing relationships with vendors and growers alike.

    Natural Nantucket Wedding

    When we sat down with Chris to discuss our vision for our wedding we said we wanted to enhance the natural beauty of Nantucket -- in color, size and type of florals. We believe in Chris' mission to be sustainable in her practice and design, which was another reason we wanted to work with her. When the wedding day came -- accompanied by hurricane rain -- Chris and her team worked seamlessly with our venue to pivot and make sure that the key floral focal points were still accounted for. We couldn't have asked for anything more!

It’s never too early to get in touch about your wedding, but we recommend having a few details figured out before you do. For example: Have you selected the location for your ceremony and/or reception? What’s your wedding style? Do you know how many guests you’ll be expecting? Typically, our couples reach out around 6 months to a year before their big day.
Yes! After the contract is signed, we provide one mockup, typically a table centerpiece. We prefer to create this between 30 and 60 days before the wedding to take into account seasonal flowers and time to make adjustments before the final proposal and vendor commitments are due. This can be done on a site visit as well. We understand that most clients are traveling to Nantucket for their wedding, so just reach out and we'll make a plan.
During your consultation, we will go over all the gorgeous in-season floral offerings available for your wedding date. After booking, a full style board packet will be sent to you including all flowers that will be in season within your color palette. We love supporting local growers!
While we take flower preferences into consideration, we try to focus more on color, style and aesthetic while planning with clients. In order to provide the best blooms available at the time of your wedding, we do not guarantee flower type.
Yes! We offer a variety of rentals for an additional cost from aisle runners to candelabras, arches, candles and more. Get in touch to see our full list.
Yes! This is one of designer, Chris Burleson's favorite things to create. We use foam-free mechanics for a more sustainable approach to floristry.
Living on a small island, the environment is a top priority at Sea Holly Studio. We work with local growers to supply fresh, seasonal blooms. Floral foam is NEVER used in our work. Instead we use sustainable and reusable mechanics, from installation structures all the way down to reusable zip ties. All green waste is composted and we reuse as much as we can.
All flowers are yours to keep after your wedding. You can preserve your bouquet, enjoy flowers after the big day and/or donate them. If you're interested in donating, please consider The Posy Project, a nonprofit founded by Sea Holly Studio's Designer/Founder. The Posy Project works to bring the joy of flowers to the community of Nantucket through free workshops and more.
