Welcome to Sweet It Is! You will probably want a cake by the time you finish touring our page, so prepare yourself to experience true deliciousness! We are a state-approved and insured home-based baking service created by Charlotte residents, Lori and Calvin Chivers. We specialize in custom cakes, wedding cakes and dessert tables that will stand out and taste incredible for your special day. All of our cakes and desserts are prepared from scratch with the finest ingredients to ensure that you have a delicious experience.

Lori has had a passion for baking since growing up watching her mother create all varieties of scratch made deliciousness, including custom cakes and wedding cakes. She is the lead decorator and baker at Sweet It Is! In addition to her love of all things involving cake design, you might find her at the local YMCA instructing a cycle or strength class. Calvin is Lori’s “partner in cake”! In addition to preparing icings and creating delectable recipes, he also makes our very special fondant. You’re very likely to meet him delivering your cake! We'd LOVE to work with you to create your dream cake!

    Lori did an AMAZING job with our wedding cake! We knew immediately from our initial tasting that we were going to go with Sweet It Is. We got a 4-tier cake with two flavors and two fillings: butterscotch sponge with cream cheese frosting and chocolate cake with a white chocolate Bailey’s frosting. It was absolutely gorgeous and so delicious. We had a line of guests going up for seconds! We are saving our top layer for our anniversary and are so excited to tuck into that in a year! We also rented a cake stand through her and the cake was so beautifully displayed!

    10/10 working with Lori for our wedding cake. The whole experience was 5 stars. From the tasting, to quality, to responsiveness. Lori was so awesome in working with us to get our wedding cake dreams. Not only did our 5 tier cake look amazing but the taste was so delicious! So many compliments from our wedding guests. Would recommend again and again!

    Our initial wedding cake vendor backed out on us a month before our wedding. To say we were devastated would be an understatement! We didn’t know how we would find a great caterer for our 240 person guest count at such short notice. Luckily, our wedding planner referred us to Lori with Sweet It Is. After explaining our situation, she offered us the opportunity to work with her even though it was a very busy time of year for her. I truly appreciated her professional and empathy for us! We had a wonderful taste testing which resulted in us moving forward with her and she was very accommodating in regards to choice of pairing between cake and icing. I showed her my photo “inspiration” of what I wanted the outside to look like and she executed it perfectly! Sweet It Is, is a great vendor choice for your wedding!

    It hasn't been a month since our wedding and I'm so tempted to thaw out our saved anniversary top tier! Our wedding cake was absolutely beautiful & delicious to top it off the night. It moist and flavorful! Lori was wonderful to work with and made everything a breeze. I would highly recommend her services. Book fast, you would not want to regret it!
