Welcome to Sweet It Is! You will probably want a cake by the time you finish touring our page, so prepare yourself to experience true deliciousness! We are a state-approved and insured home-based baking service created by Charlotte residents, Lori and Calvin Chivers. We specialize in custom cakes, wedding cakes and dessert tables that will stand out and taste incredible for your special day. All of our cakes and desserts are prepared from scratch with the finest ingredients to ensure that you have a delicious experience.

Lori has had a passion for baking since growing up watching her mother create all varieties of scratch made deliciousness, including custom cakes and wedding cakes. She is the lead decorator and baker at Sweet It Is! In addition to her love of all things involving cake design, you might find her at the local YMCA instructing a cycle or strength class. Calvin is Lori’s “partner in cake”! In addition to preparing icings and creating delectable recipes, he also makes our very special fondant. You’re very likely to meet him delivering your cake! We'd LOVE to work with you to create your dream cake!

Deliciously wonderful!
We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Lori from start to finish! From the very first inquiry, she was warm, professional, and attentive. The cake tasting was such a fun and memorable part of our wedding planning—every flavor was delicious, and it honestly made choosing difficult (in the best way!). On our wedding day, the cake was everything we hoped for and more. It was not only stunningly beautiful, but also incredibly moist and flavorful—our guests are still talking about it! Lori truly has a gift for creating cakes that taste just as amazing as they look. She consistently provides exceptional service, and you can tell she genuinely cares about her clients and her craft. We’re so grateful she was part of our special day and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a talented and reliable baker!

Wedding Cake of My Dreams
Sweet It Is! was the perfect choice for our wedding cake. The cake tasting kit we picked up was incredibly convenient, and they were very responsive to our emails throughout the planning process. On the day of our wedding, the cake was absolutely stunning - it looked exactly like the design we had discussed, and the taste was out of this world. Our guests raved about how delicious it was, and I even got to enjoy the leftovers for a whole week after the wedding! We couldn't be happier with the service and quality from Sweet It Is!, and would highly recommend them to any couple planning their big day.

Absolutely amazing!
Lori and her husband did an absolute FANTASTIC JOB!!!! I spoke to several different vendors but none of them would make the custom S’mores cake that I wanted until I found Sweet It Is! The cake was so beautiful I almost didn’t want to eat it, but it was soooo delicious. Definitely use them for your special event!!!
