I have been honored to be part of the Charlottesville and Central Virginia local food community since 1993, working as a chef, caterer, baker, barista, and farmer. Now I am using my experience and knowledge of our area, its venues, farms and resources to create one of a kind, delicious desserts. One might even call it, “Farm to Cake Table” I offer many gluten free, vegan, and dairy free cake options. I invite you to contact me to create a delicious dessert for your celebration.

Beautiful Creative Delicious - this is the motto that the crew of CBR live by when crafting our specialty desserts. We have a reputation for great taste which is the basis for all of our cakes and desserts. The whole process is customized to each couple, from the tasting to designing the cake, to taking some home at the end of the night. We use creativity and passion to make your cake a work of art, including watercolor, painted buttercream, and delicate sugar flower decoration.

    Best Wedding Cake Ever!

    Cakes by Rachel absolutely exceeded our expectations and created the most beautiful and delicious wedding cake we could have asked for. From the very beginning, Rachel was so easy to work with, organized, responsive, and genuinely invested in making sure every detail matched our vision perfectly. Our tasting with Rachel was the most fun time of the entire wedding planning process. She has the best set up, is so helpful, and everything was delicious!! The cake itself was stunning and fit seamlessly with the overall look and feel of our wedding. Every detail was beautifully executed, including the addition of our dog. Beyond how gorgeous it looked, it tasted incredible, we had so many guests tell us it was one of the best wedding cakes they had ever had. Rachel was thoughtful, professional, and clearly so talented at what she does. She made the entire process stress-free and delivered something that was even more beautiful than we imagined. We are so grateful and would recommend Cakes by Rachel to anyone looking for a wedding cake that is both stunning and absolutely delicious!!

    Highly recommended!

    Our wedding cake was one of the details my husband was most excited about, and this team absolutely exceeded every expectation. We were originally planning to do a take-home tasting, but a last-minute cancellation opened up an in-person tasting—and we are so grateful it happened. It turned into such a special experience and made us even more excited for our wedding day. A few months later, we even did a second take-home tasting because we decided to change our cake flavors, and we’re so glad we did! We ended up choosing pumpkin for one tier and their signature coconut flavor for the other, and they were both incredible. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the cake was, and we heard compliments all night long. Rachel was wonderful to work with. She was so kind, patient, and incredibly talented. I had saved different design elements from several cakes I loved, and she seamlessly brought them together into one cohesive design that was even more beautiful than I had envisioned. She even incorporated the love of our lives—our Siberian Husky—into the cake, which made it feel so personal and meaningful. The cake itself was a true work of art. It was elegant, elevated, and fit our wedding perfectly while tasting just as amazing as it looked. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and we’re already looking forward to celebrating our first anniversary with the top tier. Thank you for creating such a beautiful and delicious part of our wedding day!

    Exactly what we wanted for our cake!

    We ordered a three-tier, 100-serving cake from “Cakes by Rachel” for our Charlottesville area wedding. The tasting was a really fun experience as we tried the different combinations, and after discussing with Rachel, we found the perfect components for our cake. The delivery went smoothly and everyone absolutely loved both the look of the cake, and of course the taste. Rachel and her team are excellent: we can’t recommend them enough!

    Gorgeous cake, friendly staff!

    Looks and tastes equally amazing! Gorgeously decorated, cake tasting at home in their to go kit was also super fun!!

Every cake we make is custom to the couple! From the flavor combinations to the design, including amazing accents such as sugar flowers, buttercream flowers, buttercream painting, piped details, or even monograms.
