(yes, like "CJ the DJ"!) and I've spent more than 20 years in the entertainment industry, preparing to rock your wedding! You may have heard me on the radio in Pittsburgh, or maybe you were a contestant when I co-hosted a game show at your favorite bar or your company's teambuilding event. But now I'm back to my roots, providing professional, experienced DJ and emcee services for the Greater Pittsburgh region!

I have one simple goal: to make you and your guests feel special on your big day! Every wedding is unique, and I meticulously custom-tailor everything from the playlists and announcements, to even my accent and dance floor lighting, to help your dream become a reality. I've trained under some of the best hosts in showbusiness, who've taught me that even when I have the mic, the spotlight should always be on YOU, the guest of honor.     Great Experience

    We had a great experience working with C. J. He really helped the whole day run smoothly and kept everything moving. He also incorporated every one of our suggestions and requests, no matter how specific. C. J. was incredibly responsive and helpful in the planning process and just super nice and great to work with. Would definitely recommend!

    Best DJ ever!!!!

    CJ is amazing!!! He was so helpful throughout our planning process and gave us all of the tools we needed for our day to be perfect. We had so much fun with him DJing our wedding and he was able to keep the energy high and was even able to get my 78 year old grandma to boogie on the dance floor. He is super caring and accepting and can tell he genuinely cares about making your big day perfect.

The quality of their work was top notch - they truly delivered pure quality entertainment that kept our guests dancing all night long.     Fun, Energetic, Thorough, Reads the room

    C.J. knew exactly what to ask us, helped plan how things should go, and kept the energy up during the dancing! The planning document and pre-wedding meetings helped us solidify our speeches/dances plan and our entrance. He researched our songs to find the best version. He even set up an extra speaker during our cocktail hour. During the dancing, he saw our dancefloor crowd (who we hoped might have some of the older folks, so we requested motown) and saw it was just younger friends. So he dropped in some 2005-era hip-hop and punk rock and got it really bumping :D We all had a blast!

    He Does It All!

    Was thorough in our planning meetings and made our wedding feel personalized. Kept everyone dancing all night and met every request we gave. Definitely recommend

By default, I will always been in a black button-up shirt, black dress pants, and black dress shoes. My goal is to blend into the background and not be a distraction on your big day. However, as a "special touch," I do my best to match my tie to your wedding colors, so please don't forget to let me know what those are! And of course, if you'd like me to wear something different, just ask and I'll do my best to accommodate any reasonable request!
That's up to you! Some couples love that I offer a "Text Your Request" feature as long as I have WiFi or cell signal at the venue - so people can request music from their seats or the dance floor, without needing to yell over my speakers. However, I also respect couples' wishes to keep the playlist "locked down" to our agreed-upon playlist or genre. And if we do agree to take requests, you always have "Veto Power" on any songs that you absolutely DO NOT want played. Let's chat about this during one of our unlimited planning sessions!
I sure do! If the entire event is in one location, it's easy to keep the music going throughout. But even if your ceremony or cocktail hour is in a separate location, I can bring a second sound system for a discreet, classy setup. Of course, a wireless microphone is also available to use for announcements or ceremony proceedings. We'll go over everything you need in your complimentary planning packet and unlimited virtual or in-person meetings!
Yes! I am covered for up to $1 million per incident in liability insurance through State Farm, as well as a $5000 personal property policy that covers my equipment. Of course, safety is my top priority, and I meticulously check my equipment (and my setup at each event) to minimize - if not eliminate - the risk of any safety issues.
This depends on the type of venue and how complicated of a setup I'll be bringing. For a very basic, one-system setup, I try to arrive about two hours before guests arrive. If I'll be setting up more than one system, or if the venue requires the use of stairs, elevators, long hallways, distant parking, etc, I may request to arrive as early as 3 hours prior to guest arrival. As for unloading, I will usually be fully broken down and packed up no later than one hour after the event ends.
Yes! Dance floor lighting is always included at no extra cost, and if it makes sense for the venue, I can use this system as decorative up-lighting or down-lighting before the dancing gets started. I also have accent uplights that can synchronize wirelessly with the music, as well as a self-service photo booth with a table full of props and costume pieces. And I'm happy to work with you on getting glowsticks, an audio phone booth, a commemorative vinyl record, or even a "silent disco" if you want a quieter vibe. Please contact me for more details!
There is no extra cost for events within 50 miles of downtown Pittsburgh. Beyond that, we can discuss custom pricing for travel and lodging based on your individual needs.
Much of my work through the years has been with other companies who owned the rights to images of their events. I have also been phasing out photos and videos that showed my "starter" setup under Party It Up. I've been taking updated photos and videos for the last several months and will be uploading them on my various platforms as time allows. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out for private links to photos and videos that I haven't gotten around to publishing publicly yet!
I require a 25% deposit to reserve the date, and as long as the full balance is paid by the due date, you're welcome to split it into as many payments as you'd like! If you need more time, you are welcome to put the balance on any major credit card, or you can use the AfterPay function through Party It Up's invoice and contract provider, Square. Please feel free to reach out if you have further questions on how that works!
