We do it all: We want say we do it all - but let’s stick to what we’re really good at here: Custom Wedding Band DJ + Live Band Hybrid feat. DJ Gray on trombone + drums + the Stompers horns New Orleans-style Brass Band - perfect to surprise your guests with live music at the end of your ceremony, cocktail hour, during the reception, after party. This band can be acoustic - meaning it can go anywhere remote like the beach / woods, doesn't need electric, etc! Our members have played with most of the wedding bands on the Jersey Shore, so most importantly, we know what works! We're here to make sure we're playing what you want to hear versus being stuck to do the thing we do. We LOVE New Orleans music, and we think that upbeat, positive sound is a perfect way to do something different at your wedding. We're completely open to you dialing that from 1 - stick to less NOLA and more pop / weddings tunes to 5 - bring us to New Orleans and let's party! We like to think we can provide anything you can imagine and love to take your ideas / directions and run with it together.

    The perfect band for any vibe

    Ian and the Stompers were absolutely incredible and far and away the highlight of our wedding. (And now, let me pause briefly to note that I did *not* write this review using "Zola AI" -- how silly) From our first outreach, Ian was incredibly communicative and committed to helping us map out the day, as far as when and what type of music we would want for each moment. The fact that the group can play so many different styles in so many different arrangements and lineups made our planning incredibly easy and ensured that we had the perfect soundtrack for every moment. From a piano and horns for our ceremony, to the brass band during cocktail hour and a full 10-piece group for the reception, the musicianship was universally outstanding. It was very important to us that we didn't have an impersonal, run-of-the-mill, corporate agency "wedding band," going through the motions and playing the same songs week in and week out. Any band will tell you that you can customize the setlist, but Ian worked with us to personalize the entire experience and the band truly approached our wedding like a concert – reading and building the energy in the room, adjusting to what our guests were enjoying and ensuring that transitions were smooth – rather than simply functioning as a human version of a playlist, ticking down a list of songs. We also deeply appreciated that the Stompers are so engrained in the NJ music scene and that they could adapt to our tastes and add bandmates to support the intended vibe.To this day, we love seeing them playing and supporting a wide variety of acts at the Stone Pony and other Shore venues. Their unparalleled professionalism was particularly evident in the manner in which they arranged an incredible rendition of Kacey Musgrave's "Slow Burn" for our first dance with barely two-week's notice (we were indecisive until the last moment). Furthermore, beyond the music itself, Ian went above and beyond to set up and test our ceremony microphones and ensure the quality of the audio experience for the reception, and worked wonderfully with our coordinator and caterer to understand and adapt to the schedule and flow of the evening. We truly cannot recommend the Stompers enough. Like the very many people who may be reading this review, we have attended a large number of weddings, and we can avow – the bias of it being our own wedding aside – that you will not find a better band, no matter the style or vibe you're seeking. Many friends, family and other guests will often comment that a particular band was the best they've ever seen at an event, but when your wedding coordinator, caterer, wait staff, bartenders, and even the photobooth attendant are saying it – as ours told us – then you know you found something special, and the Stompers are exactly that.

    Stompers are the chef's kiss!

    The Ocean Avenue Stompers were the chef's kiss on our wedding! They joined us immediately after the ceremony and through the cocktail hour and we all couldn't get enough! I honestly wish we had them scheduled for the entire wedding. Ian was amazing from beginning to end, and he took all of our ideas into consideration. These guys are professional and FUN! Highly recommend to take your special day to the next level.

    Ocean Ave Stompers Brass Band and DJ Hybrid

    The Ocean Ave Stompers were our wedding band/DJ in June 2024 and they absolutely crushed it. Easily one of the best decisions we made around our wedding day, our friends still talk about how great our band/DJ was and how much fun they had dancing. We did the the brass band cocktail hour and the DJ Hybrid at Cross and Orange, and it was the perfect choice. The brass band during cocktail hour was such a cool vibe and set the scene for a fun evening. Then the DJ Hybrid exceeded our expectations. It was SO FUN to have modern dance songs along with live music. Truly such a great time. Ian was super easy to work with leading up to the big day, I would't recommend anything more than the Ocean Ave Stompers.

    Gold Standard

    Unforgettable wedding- you need to hire the Ocean Avenue Stompers! We had them lead a "second line" procession for our wedding party on the Asbury Park boardwalk, and it was absolute magic. The music was energetic and fun, and it had everyone moving (even those on the boardwalk looking in). What we loved most is that while they are incredibly talented and commanding on stage, they always kept the focus on our celebration. Literally every single compliment we received from our guests mentioned how amazing the band was. They truly are the gold standard!

    Raise your wedding to the next level with a performance by the Ocean Avenue Stompers! Our wedding was held on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, which was the perfect setting for a "second line" procession of the wedding party into the venue. The entrance was stunning and immediately set the tone for a joyful, high-energy celebration. The music was vibrant, uplifting, and toe-tappingly fun! While the band brought incredible stage presence, they never overshadowed the main event—our wedding celebration. The Stompers are the perfect enhancement to any special occasion. They were mentioned in every single compliment we received from our guests, which is the ultimate testament to the memorable role they played in our special day. We refer to Philadelphia and NJ our home markets and are happy to travel anywhere! We determine cost of travel gas, tolls, parking, lodging into our quote depending where your wedding is!
We know so many vendors. Happy to connect! We can provide uplighting for the band or dancefloor lighting to transform the room into a fun club feel.
the answer is yes - we know SO many and love suggestions that fit into our sound. Some songs are harder than others where we might ask an arranging fee to insure the song is performed as well as possible which is always possible to add on leading up to the event.
We love working with you by providing a song list we have that includes hundreds of songs, from there we guage which you love, are into, and don't need to hear allowing you to fully customize the songs you're hearing at your event! When we do the DJ + live band hybrid we love when you give us suggestions for diffrent parts of the night. We'll play all your requests 100% no problem. We're there to play what you want to hear - you have us for the day.
We're a network. We have 50+ musicians we work with and we're taking the best musicians from the NYC + Philly music scenes and employing them when they're not off touring the world. It's a special thing that really can only exist in this area and maybe LA, Chicago, Nashville, New Orleans?
