PROCEED WITH CAUTION IF YOU BOOK THIS DJ
We are writing this review to protect other couples from the experience we had at our wedding. What follows is a factual account, corroborated by our wedding coordinator, venue staff (bartenders and food service), and approximately 90 of our wedding guests who witnessed these events firsthand. FROM THE MOMENT HE ARRIVED: Upon arrival, he immediately attempted to change the entire layout of our reception area — a setup that had already been carefully planned by everyone involved — because he felt his placement "would sound better." He insisted on positioning himself between the bride/groom table and our guests, and refused to adjust his own setup to accommodate the existing arrangement. His sound quality was poor — multiple guests independently described it as muffled, as if coming through a wall. After he left(when we weren’t even present), the venue's standard backup Bluetooth speaker actually sounded better. He also plugged into/tripped an electrical outlet he had been explicitly told by our wedding coordinator not to use, and made a comment to our guests that he had driven three hours to be there while the venue was in his advertised service area — completely unprofessional. FIRST DANCE: We provided our song list well in advance via email, which he confirmed and replied to with the full playlist. For our first dance, he began playing the song, stopped it, and announced over the microphone to our entire reception: "That's the short version, let me get the longer one." What followed was over a minute of complete silence while we stood in front of all of our guests. He then played a live/bootleg version of our song — not the studio recording we had requested of a well-known, widely available James Taylor song. My spouse and I ended up singing our own first dance song ourselves. This moment is documented in photos, video, and the accounts of nearly every guest present. RECEPTION: — He handed us a microphone for toasts at the wrong time, despite having the written itinerary, leaving us stunned and unprepared in front of our guests. — After the best man and bridesmaid speeches, he left complete silence with no music and no direction, requiring us to intervene. — There were multiple other silent gaps throughout the evening where no music was played and no effort was made to fill the void. — During buffet, rather than calling tables one at a time as is standard practice, he released multiple tables simultaneously, and while other tables were still getting food creating a chaotic, crowded situation that numerous guests noted. — Songs we had specifically requested — confirmed in writing — were not played until we forwarded him his own confirmation email during our reception. — He was rude to our wedding coordinator and her staff, per her own written account. HIS RESPONSE TO OUR COMPLAINTS: When we emailed him with these concerns and requested a refund, he did not apologize or offer any resolution. Instead, he threatened us with civil legal action and advised us not to post reviews, suggesting it would be "defamation." Truthful reviews of a business are not defamation. We are posting this review so that no other couple has to experience what we did on one of the most important days of their lives. Our wedding coordinator has documented her concerns in writing and recommended we seek a refund. We have email confirmation of our song requests, a coordinator's written account, venue staff witnesses, and the accounts of nearly 100 wedding guests

What a wonderful experience
We hired DJ Starchild Production for our wedding and couldn't have been happier with our choice. From our first conversation, he was courteous and easy to work with, which honestly made my stress level go down during the planning process. His music selection was clean and thoughtful, matching our vibe perfectly, and he kept the energy going all night without missing a beat. What really impressed us was that his pricing came in well below other DJs we looked at, yet the quality of his work was completely professional. We've recommended him to several coworkers and friends, and they all came back with great reviews. We'll definitely be hiring him again for future events.

Wedding
From our first conversation, DJ Starchild made it clear he cared about getting things right. He responded quickly to our questions and always made sure he understood exactly what we wanted for our big day. On the wedding day itself, he arrived early to test his equipment and make sure everything was in perfect working order. What impressed us most was his ability to read the room and play the right songs at the right time—he kept our guests dancing all night and never missed a beat. He's a true professional who knows how to work with different crowds and bring energy to any event. We can't thank DJ Starchild enough for making our wedding such a happy celebration, and we'd absolutely recommend him to any couple looking for a DJ who cares about their special day.

DJ Starchild Production•Jul 3, 2026Statement of Facts – DJ Starchild Productions LLC Wedding Date: June 13, 2026, Venue: Lovettsville, Virginia Clients: Mary Rose & Alexander Lorenge Lead Source: Zola.com (April 27, 2026) On April 27, 2026, DJ Starchild Productions LLC received a wedding ceremony and reception request for the June 13, 2026 event. On April 30, 2026, the clients requested a contract including my digital professional photo booth and business insurance. I provided the contract, a sample program/itinerary, and over 200 songs for their review. On May 15, 2026, I emailed the bride requesting the required materials to properly execute the event: • Complete itinerary • Ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception playlist (60–80 songs) • Photos and layout of DJ setup locations • Distances between ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception areas On May 30, 2026, the bride sent an image labeled “Wedding Jamz” with no attachment, only a list of 36 songs — half of which were explicit, violating the contract’s non explicit music clause, especially inappropriate with young children present. She also sent images of a large tent but with no layout, no ceremony location, no cocktail hour location, and no distances. On May 31, 2026, the bride called requesting my cell number so the coordinator could send the itinerary and playlist. No itinerary, playlist, or layout was ever sent before the wedding date. With the event approaching and no communication from the coordinators, I prepared to use my standard program and playlists. On June 13, 2026, at 10:00am, we began our 176 mile round trip to Lovettsville. A tornado storms the night before caused multiple road closures, forcing detours. We arrived at 1:00pm in 95 degree heat. Upon arrival, the venue coordinators walked me through the setup areas and immediately revealed major issues: • DJ booth placed in a corner instead of in front of the dance floor (affecting sound quality, acoustics, and lighting). • Photo booth inside a plastic tent, interfering with internet reception. • Cocktail hour located 50+ feet from the DJ booth. • Ceremony located over 2,000 feet uphill in a wooded area — never disclosed by the bride or coordinator. • Contract states $50 per 50 feet for ceremony distance beyond standard range. • Ceremony area infested with gnats, flies, ants, and mosquitoes. • Loudoun County noise ordinance capped music at 70 dB, monitored by venue staff. I complied using my decibel meter. Power to the ceremony area was turned off, requiring me to walk 2,000 feet downhill in 95 degree heat to request it be turned on. Ceremony scheduled for 5:00pm did not begin until 5:45pm–6:05pm. After the ceremony, we hand carried equipment back uphill, losing 30 minutes and missing the cocktail hour window. Portable restrooms were nonfunctional; only one restroom inside the venue was available and overcrowded. During the reception, the coordinator’s playlist did not match the program previously provided. Coordinators repeatedly harassed and micromanaged me despite failing to send the correct materials before the wedding. Rural internet conditions prevented downloading the bride’s last minute 100 songs emailed after dinner. On Juneteenth — while my family was celebrating our 400 years of bondage — the bride inapparently emailed me stating I should retire, claiming my 5 star reviews were fake, and demanding a refund. The couple then posted defamatory statements on Google, WeddingWire, and Facebook attempting to destroy a business I have built for 50 years. The coordinators failed to communicate, failed to provide layouts, failed to disclose distances, failed to manage the event, and failed to uphold their responsibilities. They also told the venue I would play until 11:00pm, despite the contract clearly stating 5:00pm–10:00pm. When I honored the contract, they became upset. The issues at this wedding were caused by lack of communication, failure to provide required materials, venue conditions, coordinator mismanagement, and last minute demands
