About Brian Clemens, Pianist & Bands

Brian Clemens, Pianist & Bands

Pianist/Bandleader

Brian Clemens provides live music for weddings throughout Washington, DC and the DMV area, from elegant solo piano and piano/vocals to jazz ensembles and larger reception bands. With 12+ years of experience, more than 100 weddings performed across Southern California, the UK, and Europe, and tenure as a resident pianist at London's world famous Ritz Hotel , Brian tailors each lineup, repertoire, and performance to the setting and atmosphere of the day.

What sets Brian apart is the caliber and range of experience behind every performance. He holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance, studied under Grammy Award-winning pianist/arranger Bill Cunliffe, and has worked as resident pianist at The Ritz London, with performances at The Savoy, The Dorchester, Harrods, and for clients including Sotheby’s. He also leads touring jazz and big band projects across the UK and Europe. For couples, that means polished musicianship, strong instincts for reading a room, and the flexibility to tailor everything from ceremony piano and cocktail music to vocals, jazz ensembles, and full reception bands.

Attire is always appropriate to the event. For most weddings and formal events, I perform in a suit or formal eveningwear. Band attire can also be coordinated with the style of your wedding.
Yes. I have an extensive repertoire of 500+ songs across a wide range of genres, and special song requests are always welcome, especially for ceremonies, first dances, entrances, and other important moments. If a song requires a custom arrangement or extensive preparation, I’ll discuss that with you in advance.e.
I bring 12+ years of wedding, luxury hospitality, and international performance experience, with well over 100 weddings and private events across California, the UK, and Europe. My background includes an M.M. in Jazz Performance, work as resident pianist at The Ritz London, and performances at The Savoy, The Dorchester, The Langham, Ritz-Carlton properties, and Disneyland, California. As an arranger and Musical Director fluent in jazz, swing, Latin, R&B, pop, classical, and Broadway, I can tailor the repertoire and lineup, from solo piano to vocals, strings, horns, and full bands, to create the right atmosphere and sound for each wedding.
Absolutely. I’m happy to discuss favorite songs, artists, styles, and any music you would particularly like included or avoided. Requests can be incorporated into the repertoire whenever possible.
Yes. I provide music for ceremonies, cocktail hours, dinners, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and other wedding events. Options range from solo piano and piano/vocals to jazz trios, quartets, and larger bands.
Yes. Depending on the music and instrumentation required, I can often put together a custom lineup with additional vocalists, strings, horns, percussion, or other specialty musicians. Let me know what you have in mind and I can recommend the best approach.
Yes. I carry $1 million in general liability insurance for professional music and event entertainment services.
My repertoire is broad and can be tailored to the setting. Styles include jazz, swing, Great American Songbook, Latin, Bossa Nova, R&B, Motown, pop, Broadway, classical, blues, and contemporary favorites. I can provide anything from understated background music to a more energetic featured performance.
I plan setup and arrival time around the venue and size of the ensemble, with enough time for equipment setup, soundcheck, and coordination before guests arrive. Larger bands and more complex setups naturally require additional time. Common setup time is 1 hour to 2 hours before the start.
My focus is live music and musical direction rather than lighting or photo booths. I’m happy to coordinate with your venue, planner, DJ, or production team so the music works smoothly with the rest of your event.
Travel and equipment costs depend on the event location, lineup, performance length, and setup requirements. Local DMV-area travel (within the metro region) can be discussed as part of your quote, and any additional costs will always be explained clearly in advance.
Any applicable taxes or required charges will be clearly itemized in your final quote so there are no unexpected costs.
