One of my first memories of my mother was her picking me up from my babysitter’s on a snow day during her lunch break and taking me to go sledding at their nearest hill. What was she doing while I was traveling up and down that hill? Taking photos of the surrounding scenery. As I grew older and lost my mother, I started to value the moments that were captured on camera more and more. As film turned to digital, it became easier to take photos of everything and anything, and then choosing what to keep.

When I was growing up, a wedding photographer was some nerdy guy wearing a soup-stained tuxedo and carrying a big clunky medium format camera. No, I had plans to be the next big thing in advertising photography. I felt like I was well on my way enjoying a very successful career shooting corporate and advertising work on a national level and had never really considered shooting weddings as an option. That all changed when a wedding coordinator friend of mine was in a bind and asked if I could help them out by shooting one of their weddings.

I spent my childhood summers on Cape Cod, lived in the mountains and now on the coast of Maine and called Nantucket Island home for just over eight years.
