Why is New York the Perfect Wedding Destination?

New York gives you incredible variety for your special day, from Manhattan's iconic skyline to the charming countryside of Upstate. You can enjoy timeless elegance at The Plaza Hotel with its grand ballrooms overlooking Central Park, or take in breathtaking panoramic views of Manhattan at Tribeca Rooftop. Brooklyn offers photography-friendly industrial-chic spaces like The Foundry with its character-filled exposed brick and factory windows. Head Upstate and you'll find City Winery Hudson Valley where your celebration unfolds against the backdrop of a working vineyard with mountain views that change beautifully with each season. April sees the most wedding inquiries in New York, showing just how many couples are drawn to the region during spring's beautiful blooming season.

What's the Reality of Wedding Costs in New York?

Expect to pay more for your New York wedding than the national average of $6,500-$12,000 for venues alone. New York venues typically cost around $16,709 which makes up about 22% of your total wedding budget. Your overall costs will vary based on how many guests you're hosting: Guest Count Total Wedding Budget 50 guests (small wedding) $32,316 100 guests $54,844 150 guests $76,011 200 guests $94,911 250 guests $113,810 300 guests (large wedding) $132,709 Your other major expenses will include catering at $13,367 (18%), bar services running $10,694 (14%), florals at $8,177 (11%), planners costing $6,044 (8%), photography at $5,119 (7%), videography at $4,622 (6%), entertainment at $2,298 (3%), cake and desserts at $1,067 (1%), and hair and makeup averaging $550 (1%).

How Do NYC Wedding Venues Compare to Upstate Locations?

NYC venues offer you urban sophistication with distinctive skyline views. At Tribeca Rooftop + 360° you'll enjoy floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing Manhattan panoramas while The Plaza presents opulent ballrooms featuring chandeliers ornate molding and gold accents. The 620 Loft & Garden gives you a stunning rooftop terrace overlooking St. Patrick's Cathedral and Fifth Avenue. Upstate venues surround you with natural beauty and historic architecture. City Winery Hudson Valley welcomes you to a renovated factory featuring vaulted ceilings stone walls and vineyard views. You can host up to 350 guests here and customize your outdoor ceremony areas to create exactly the atmosphere you're dreaming of.

Which New York Venues Offer Outstanding Culinary Experiences?

You can treat your guests to Two Michelin star cuisine at Manhatta perched 60 floors high in the Financial District where Executive Chef Justin Bogle creates memorable dishes like hamachi and black truffle dumplings. The River Cafe in Brooklyn serves Michelin-starred cuisine featuring Hudson Valley foie gras and Nantucket Bay scallops with Brooklyn Bridge views right outside your window. For a farm-to-table experience Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Westchester County offers cuisine sourced directly from their on-site farm with their HayLoft space accommodating anywhere from 40 to 260 guests.

Where Can You Find Accessible Wedding Venues in New York?

For couples prioritizing accessibility 620 Loft & Garden offers customizable settings that can work with various needs though you'll want to confirm specific features during your planning. Prospect Park Boathouse and Central Park Conservatory Garden provide accessible options with proper pathways for all your guests. Always ask about specific accommodations like wheelchair ramps elevators and accessible restrooms when you're researching potential venues to ensure everyone can fully participate in your celebration.

How Can Guests Participate Remotely at New York Weddings?

Historic Manhattan venues can make remote guests feel included by incorporating virtual tours during ceremony breaks while Midtown Loft & Terrace supports interactive platforms that go beyond simple passive streaming. You might consider venues in Chelsea or SoHo that can enhance those famous skyline views with live streaming that includes interactive elements like virtual photobooths live chats or virtual toasts. These features help create genuine engagement for participants joining your special day from afar.

“I just got married at this venue on 8/31/25. I was the second wedding after all the renovations made, and I had the absolute pleasure of working with Mirian and Meg. If i can rate them & their staff alone it would be 10 stars. They were so attentive, helpful, professional, and kind. They didn’t only treat me (the bride) or the groom this way, they treated everyone with the utmost respect and amazing service. Sofia was in my care, who was the sweetest person and did everything for me that day. Meg was my maître d and she was so attentive and fun to be around. She pulled strings to make sure i got the most insane pictures and i couldn’t be more grateful that i had someone as great as her attending to me and my new husband! Mirian was the head person in charge before the wedding and she made everything so easy! She dealt with my vendors and made everything possible. she made sure my vision came to life and i really appreciate everything she did for me and my fiance as she made it possible. We met with her two weeks before the wedding, she helped me organize everything and even gave me very cute last minute ideas!! Meg and Mirian were the best two people to deal with i recommend anyone getting married here to push for them for their wedding day too. You know you have amazing staff too when your whole wedding and wedding party know them by name and mention that they loved them. The food was TO DIE FOR!! at one point after pictures, meg and sofia made sure me and my husband sat down for a moment to eat, which was super helpful and thoughtful. The food was amazing, everyone complimented it. Everyone raved about how good the meat carving station, seafood and pasta stations were. Everyone raved about the entrees and dessert as well. I cannot wait to go back and visit this place. It was so special, the vibe, overlooking the water. it made my fairytale wedding come to life. It wasn’t only the venue, it was definitely the people who worked there. Mirian and Meg, thank you so very much for making my wedding so memorable for me, my husband, and our whole family.”

Inside or out, a wedding at the Peconic Bay Yacht Club is a romantic affair. The manicured grounds and great lawn overlooking the Peconic Bay are ideal for your picturesque ceremony or tented reception. The building offers a variety of venues to accommodate your party’s style and guest list.

“I truly don’t even know where to begin because our wedding was everything we could have dreamed of and more. From start to finish, our experience was absolutely incredible, and there is genuinely not one thing we would change. Hillary and John were truly 10/10. From the very beginning, they made the entire process feel seamless and made us feel so taken care of every step of the way. Their attention to detail, kindness, professionalism, and genuine care for us and our wedding meant more than we can put into words. We always felt like we were in the best hands. Peconic Bay Yacht Club itself is absolutely breathtaking. The property and views are gorgeous, and the building is just as beautiful. Everything is so clean, pristine, elegant, and incredibly well maintained. It was the perfect setting for our wedding and truly gave us that classic, timeless feel we wanted. Even without adding a single decoration, the venue is stunning on its own. The entire staff was amazing. Every single person was attentive, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure not only we were taken care of, but our family and guests were too. The food is something our guests still talk about, it left me speechless. The butternut squash raviolis are an absolute must! Our wedding day was truly the best day of our lives, and so much of that is because of Hillary, John, and the entire team. We were able to be completely present and enjoy every second because we knew everything was being handled behind the scenes. If we could go back and do it all over again, we would choose Peconic Bay Yacht Club a million times over. There is truly nothing we would have done differently. We will forever be grateful for the most perfect wedding day and for everyone who made it so special. Thank you, Hillary, John, and the entire Peconic Bay Yacht Club team, for giving us memories we will cherish for the rest of our lives.”

“So many great things to say about this venue! *Gorgeous venue & perfect location* Every other venue we looked at had these ugly-colored, outdated carpets covering the entire reception hall. What's unique to Greentree is the beautiful large tiles and chandeliers. Not only is it breathtaking to look at, but all of your photos will sparkle and it makes for a perfect blank palette for any color scheme! The rooms are spacious enough for all of your needs, yet so intimate. Since everything is in one area, the guests are always together and it never feels like people are separated. There was plenty of room for all of our vendors to set up successfully. The location is perfect - on the water with beautiful views. We had guests from all over so New Rochelle was the perfect middle ground! Not too far from the city folks but also not too far from those living further north. *All-inclusive is the way to go* We booked Greentree the moment we got home from our initial appointment! From day 1, Kristina was BEYOND helpful with everything from wedding details, to suggestions & words of advice. We planned and pulled off an incredible, full-on wedding in only 3 months and I don't think we could have done it without Greentree. Everyone was shocked! She made everything so easy for us and low-stress. This venue has a great reputation and whenever I mentioned it, everyone was so excited and surprised I was able to book in such short timing. There are SO many benefits to an all-inclusive venue. As a bride there are a million and one things to worry about - but this venue takes care of it all. No need to worry about booking all of the details like catering and a cake decorator. Didn't need a wedding planner either because of their amazing team! The cake the baker made was STUNNING. The cocktail hour had a huge, incredible variety of food and guests were shocked to find out we still had all of our actual meal courses to follow! They were so flexible and accommodated us bringing our own cultural traditional cookies to put out as well. *Super attentive & flexible* Bradford is AMAZING and helped us with our final decisions and decor! We also received a day-of bridal attendant and maitre d' who were beyond accommodating. My bridal attendant was with me the entire night fixing my dress, holding my bouquet, asking me if I would like a drink, and helping me with anything I needed. Our maitre d' Gonzalo is a GEM. I somehow spilled an absurd amount of chocolate from the fountain smack in the middle of my dress. Gonzalo sat with me for minutes miraculously scrubbing it off until it was gone. It was an impossible task but he did not give up until the problem was fixed. He also checked in with us repeatedly throughout the night, guided us to where we had to go at certain times, and made sure we were taken care of. As all weddings, unforeseen things happen. This team is super quick on their feet! Our wedding was in October and was blue skies just about every day of the month. Of course, our weekend there was an impromptu Nor'easter. I'll admit I was bummed as I was looking forward to the gorgeous outdoor setting and photos on the water. However, when I saw how beautiful everything was inside, I was moved to tears. For a venue to successfully pull off a change like that last minute and do such a beautiful job that I was so happy & grateful to have the wedding inside, speaks volumes. It was a perfect day and I wish we could do it all over again. Thank you all SO much!!!”

All that to say I was a little disorganized and delayed on documents and other things requested of me. (Not to mention I live over an hour away with no car) They handled everything with ease. They put my favors together for me. The chef added in signature dishes that I requested for cocktail hour. When my number didn’t hit the minimum, they added more food stations for my guests to enjoy. I promise I have no idea how the day went so smooth because everything flowed so smooth. My guests still talk about how amazing the experience was. They said they’ve never seen so much food offered and it felt like 4 events in 1.
