““All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”
— The Fellowship of the Ring
When it came to our Pacific Northwest Shire wedding, the time given to us was fleeting — one day, one ceremony, one chance to live inside a dream. What McKenna Ross of Alder & Pine gave us was the ability to hold onto that time forever.
Her photography is so much more than images — it is story, soul, and atmosphere. From the very beginning, she went above and beyond: during our engagement shoot she literally waded knee-deep into a freezing river in late November just to capture the perfect shot. That dedication carried through every step of our journey together.
On the wedding day itself, McKenna was more than a photographer — she was a true event professional and steady presence. She pinned boutonnieres, adjusted my veil, and offered tips and tricks that only someone with years of wedding magic could know. When the rings were forgotten mid-ceremony, McKenna didn’t hesitate for a second — she sprinted into our home to retrieve them, saving the moment with calm and grace. And though I didn’t even know it at the time, she had recently moved from Washington to Montana, and still drove all the way back just to be there to capture our day.
Her artistry speaks for itself in every photo — golden light, candid joy, quiet forest magic — but it’s her professionalism, dedication, and heart that truly set her apart. McKenna didn’t just document our wedding, she safeguarded it.
We are endlessly grateful for her work and for the memories she preserved. Our photos are treasures we will cherish for a lifetime, reminders that while time itself cannot be held, its light can be.
