Lesly's love for sweets & baking started at a very young age. A Pastry Arts graduate from The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College, she launched The Sugary in 2017. I grew up surrounded by celebrations that revolved around food and community and Party Girl is just that. My cakes are cloaked in saturated colors, glitter cherries, and extreme piping, giving refined yet a little wild. While baking has always been my passion, I was a high school science teacher for 10 years before taking the leap to own my own shop! With the support and love from my family and friends, and the discovery of a beautiful location in our home neighborhood, I am now able bring my treats to a larger audience than what could be met by me alone in my kitchen. I am so happy to have a place that I can love and share love through. Making popcorn here is no joke, every day our customers visit our stores to find us working hard popping, drizzling, laughing, and coating in front of their eyes. There is always something new and exciting to sample. "Turkey Stuffing Popcorn" anyone?!?!?! It starts with corn harvested from nearby Lancaster county. From there we add a mix of inspirations: childhood favorites, family gatherings, and seasonal ingredients.

My name is Naomi Acevedo and I am from the Enchanted Island of Puerto Rico. My husband and our sons came to Philadelphia, PA in 2015, 6 months after I got here. We came to get medical treatment and a better life for those two beautiful and sweet boys (until that time). We welcomed our Princess here, who was born in 2016. We officially started our business in 2018, but we have more than 15 years of experience in this sweet field. My mom used to bake cakes and treats and my father-in-law was a baker (we got his recipes). Here we are growing and expanding and incorporating more items into our menu.

I've been in business for about 21 years my skills are as you see my flavor choices are listed on my website there are about 15 or more to choose from. I feel decoration is just as important as flavor.

I have been creating cakes since 1990 . I am self taught starting my work doing small birthday parties and theme character cakes . I had two personal retired chefs who taught me for a few years . I have attended the restaurant school seminars here in Philadelphia. My work started as a word of mouth cake business before going online . My cake studio is at my home but my wedding cake business is an online business . We offer sample demonstration cakes as our taste testing and presentation preview .
