As a passionate storyteller and cinematographer, TJ Thran brings the beauty of vintage filmmaking to modern love stories. With an eye for detail and a heart for nostalgia, TJ specializes in capturing weddings using Super 8 and Super 16mm film cameras. These iconic cameras, known for their rich, organic textures and dreamlike aesthetics, transform fleeting moments into timeless keepsakes. Drawing on years of experience in cinematography and a deep appreciation for analog mediums, TJ blends classic film techniques with the emotion of your big day, creating wedding films that feel as timeless as the love they celebrate.

Super Joy specializes in analog wedding videography, which means we capture your big day on glorious Super 8 film. After an initial chat and some check-ins along the way, I'll show up on your wedding day with my cameras and enough film to capture every tender and goofy moment (and everything in between). I take a fly-on-the-wall approach, which basically means you won't get anything staged from me. Think vintage home movies on a cinematic level.

I create short films from your old home movies and favorite photographs. Process: First, we'll chat and you tell me everything you'd like to share about you or your loved ones featured in the footage. I'll walk you through selecting the photos/videos to best tell your story. You gather all the footage (feel free to outsource to family + friends!) and send to me. And that's it! I take it from there and get to work creating a short film that reflects you + your unique story.

We work with the average human, not models, and through prompting, and just sort of watching you (god that feels creepy to say), we'll craft gorgeous images that feel like you. I'm not interested in making images that look standard, or that don't tell a story, that's the whole point of hiring a videographer right? To be able to tell your wedding day story.
