Your hosts, Matt and KellyAnn, here! We met in San Diego and have always been drawn to saltwater. We left in the exploration of more things wild: mountains to climb, waters to kayak, trails to run, perspectives to encounter. We spent 3 years on the road, living out of our car and exploring North America’s public lands and communities, stumbling upon spaces, places, and people who inspired us and ultimately sharpened the pencil that created Salted Roots. Seward won our hearts, with mountains, the ocean, and a national park right in our backyard. Alaska is wild - wild enough for us vagabonds to settle down roots… and then naturally the idea for Salted Roots sprouted. We bought the land in 2017, were married there shortly after, and began throwing together our future plans for the project with close friends. Our community helped us clear the land, build our website and make our vision a reality.

Millers Landing is a DIY beachfront venue just outside Seward, Alaska, set on our family homestead established before statehood. We offer cabins, campsites, and a large event tent alongside the largest stretch of private beachfront in Seward, giving you room to create a celebration that fits your style. Our family has been hosting visitors here since 1982, sharing the same shoreline and mountain views we grew up with. Guests can also add adventure to their stay with our fleet of boats for fishing, kayak tours, photo shoots, elopements, wildlife trips, and custom outings. Millers Landing blends the comfort of a lived-in homestead with the freedom to design your own unforgettable Alaska experience.

Guests will appreciate the convenient and abundant parking located just steps from the venue. For added flexibility, self-catering is welcome.
