“I am not sure I even have enough space to describe the amazing experience I had working with Sidney!
I had made plans for a semi-last minute trip to Charleston to surprise family at my niece’s wedding. I messaged Sidney, and I was so thankful she could get me on her schedule especially on a Sunday. I had explained to her my needs and wants in the look (I was going for a wedding guest look not a bridal/bridal party look), and she, being the artist that she is, created a beautiful look that was exactly what I was looking for without having to show her any examples. She knew exactly what colors to use on my very fair complexion as well as how to coordinate the look with my dress and even my red hair/hazel eyes. She even tailored my false lashes to my eye shape and size, and some makeup artists will just pop the lash on the eye without making sure it’s the right fit. Basically, I gave her the freedom to create the look, and I couldn’t have been happier with the final result!
Even though I took the attached photo as an amusing way to show family and friends how much I didn’t miss the Charleston humidity, it’s a true example of how Sidney’s work still looked amazing, several hours later, even after 90 degree weather, bright sunny conditions, dinner, cake, and dancing.
On the professional and personal side of this experience, she was mindful to ask me about my skin type and what products I had sensitivities to. I’m also very particular about sanitation and cross contamination, and I can tell when a makeup artist doesn’t properly care for their tools, and I could easily see that she is professionally trained and extremely considerate to consider the health and safety of her clients.
Prior to the appt, she was extremely accommodating. Not only did she work with my schedule on a Sunday, she was very flexible with the idea of changing the appt time which I ended up moving shortly after booking. I was grateful with her patience too especially when I got a little lost finding her place, which was super easy to get to, but it meant I was a little late for my appt time.
I’m very adamant about paying an artist what they’re worth. I think Sidney’s rates are extremely affordable. I went with her “Classic Event” package, but she has packages that will meet everyone’s needs, and I look forward to hiring her again for any future events that I need to attend in Charleston. If we decide to renew our vows in Charleston, I’m going to contact Sidney immediately since I know I can trust her to create another beautiful look.
Most importantly, I enjoyed talking to her during the makeup application process, and I instantly felt relaxed with her, so I know anyone that books with her will definitely have the same experience.
Lastly, I have spent hours in a hair and makeup chair during my career, and I can say, without a doubt, Sidney should be your first (and only) call or email when booking a makeup artist in the Charleston area!”
