“When I was looking for a hair and makeup artist, I wanted someone who I felt confident could help me decide the look for my wedding and come up with options for my naturally curly hair. However, I knew the deciding factor would be whether I felt confident that the artist could make every member of my bridal party that was diverse (in terms of race, disability, and LGBTQ) bridal party look and feel beautiful. Carla's portfolio showed me that she really lives her values of inclusion and I booked her with full confidence after our phone consultation the day after my inquiry. She gave me different options for the schedule for either just her or her and a team. I ended up going with the option of her and her team to not start so early and have a more efficient schedule. I was right to place my trust in her and the team she works with! I did a trial a couple weeks before my wedding, which I cannot recommend highly enough. It was definitely one of the most fun experiences of the entire wedding planning process! Carla spent a few hours with me trying different looks based on my inspiration photos and the vibe of my dress. I left so excited and knowing I had options I liked based on how I was feeling and the weather. On my wedding day she and her team were fantastic and executed flawlessly and made everyone comfortable on what was a hectic morning. My mother hadn't worn makeup since her wedding almost 40 years ago. My sister and maid of honor is also autistic with intellectual disabilities and had never worn makeup but wanted to be included (and look like a princess!) Carla and her team (special shoutout to makeup artist Mong!) were so patient and understanding and put them both at ease, which I appreciated so much. My other bridesmaids had a wonderful experience with makeup artist Nas as well. In terms of myself, I can say without question I've never felt more beautiful and glamorous but still myself than I did on my wedding day. Carla came with us to the church and fixed my veil that blew off during my first look and touched up everyone before we walked down the aisle. The look stayed the whole day and my hair held through the dip in our first dance into the after party. Going with Carla for hair and makeup was easily one of the best decisions I made in wedding planning and I cannot recommend her highly enough!”

“We had our wedding at Met Cafe on September 21, 2024, and I can honestly say it was everything Chris and I dreamed of and more. From the very beginning (from touring Met Cafe to the day of the wedding), the experience was seamless. Des So (venue owner) went above and beyond to help us coordinate every detail for our wedding of nearly 200 guests with my wedding coordinator (Jennette Le- Lilo Weddings). His care, professionalism, and attention to detail truly made the day unforgettable while making coordination between all vendors seamless. One of the most magical moments of the day was our first look on the rooftop, with the stunning view of the National Monument behind us. It was picture perfect, literally. We took some of our favorite wedding photos there, and it gave our day an elevated, iconic DC/urban city feel that we’ll treasure forever. The venue itself was beautifully set up to reflect the fusion of cultures (Chinese, Korean, Laotian) we hoped to celebrate. The layout, decor, and overall vibe perfectly captured that feeling of warmth, love, and unity. Throughout the day, our family/friends kept commenting on how well everything came together. It wasn’t just a wedding, it felt like an experience that brought everyone closer, which is exactly what we wanted. And the food, literally chefs kiss- amazing! The venue’s in-house catering absolutely blew everyone away. Multiple guests told us it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had (and we agree!). Every bite was delicious and thoughtfully prepared, from hors d'oeuvres to dessert. We are beyond thankful to Met Cafe and our vendors for making our wedding not just a special day, but a joyful, meaningful celebration of love, family, and community. Although we decided to have a garden ceremony and not a church ceremony, it was important for our families to feel at home. Our initial ask of Fr. David was not to officiate our ceremony (because we had a courthouse ceremony also planned), but to deliver a homily. However, over time, my and my partner's plans expanded slightly to include other aspects of a traditional Catholic wedding (blessings for the parents and godparents, the cord ceremony, etc.). Fr. David was more than accommodating and so supportive throughout our journey. With his support and understanding, we felt very comfortable incorporating these aspects of tradition that mean so much to us and our families, while still making the ceremony uniquely our own. He is so gentle, encouraging, and warm, and strikes the perfect balance between signifying authority given the importance of the occasion, and providing commentary to elicit laughter. “We decided on the Tower Club to hold our 40th wedding anniversary party at and it exceeded our expectations! The venue was very impressive with amazing views on all sides of the Washington DC metro area. Our guests enjoyed being able to spend the cocktail hour either inside or on the outdoor wrap-around terrace on the 17th floor. The drinks were varied (including cocktails like mojitos) and the food was perfectly done and delicious. The space allowed our guests to transition easily between the dining room to the vestibule which contained the bar and dance floor. The evening went off without a hitch and our guests stayed till closing as they were having such a good time. Of particular note was our event executive, Ms. Lindsay Rhoades. She was very welcoming and easy to talk with, listening carefully to our vision of the event and making appropriate suggestions. It was her wonderful personality that initially impressed us. During the process leading up to the event, Lindsay was always on top of the preparations, was able to answer all our questions and make requested adjustments to our plans for the event. We are very glad we chose the Tower Club for our event and would put them first on our list for any future events or parties.”

You can always expect Janice to keep it real — a communication style you’ll be thankful for when dealing with budgets, wedding day mania, and drunk Uncle Ted.

“My husband and I found Janice through her blog and were drawn to her transparency about an industry that can often feel opaque and hard to navigate. We met with two other potential planners, but we decided to follow our initial instinct and put our trust in Janice. She did not disappoint! Janice kept the entire planning process incredibly organized and did an amazing job of finding vendors that aligned with our (sometimes very specific) vision. Anytime we started to feel overwhelmed, Janice was ready with a detailed timeline, polite-but-firm reminder emails, and a very encouraging attitude. Janice was also very receptive and enthusiastic about helping us incorporate important cultural elements into our day that she had not had experience previously (ex. A Japanese kagami biraki ceremony). Most importantly, Janice was extremely reliable. For example, my bridesmaids and I were supposed to get our hair and make-up done at a hotel the morning of the wedding, but after we woke up to a power outage and alerted Janice, she immediately jumped into action arranging a new location and updating the beauty and photo teams about the change. She then raced over to the hotel to help me and my MOHs pack up my wedding dress, shoes, accessories, and bridesmaids gifts and convinced the concierge to let us use the emergency freight elevator so that we wouldn’t have to run down 15 flights of stairs. Her husband drove us all to the alternate location and, miraculously, all of the hair, make-up, group photos, and dressing were completed with a whopping 15 minutes to spare! Despite the early morning switch-up, the rest of the day went off without a hitch and we knew the wedding couldn’t have gone as smoothly as it did if it weren’t for Janice’s work (both in the planning and the day-of coordination). We are so glad to have hired Janice and 100% recommend Bellwether Events.”
