In 1830, James and Penelope Barfield Carothers built the original two log rooms of the Cool Springs House located at what is presently the intersection of Mallory Lane and Cool Springs Boulevard. Burdoc Farms has been owned and operated by the Shepherd family since 1942. With over 650 acres of open fields there are 2 different venues on the property for weddings. In 2012, the Shepherds hosted a wedding on the family farm. All the guests talked about was how beautiful the farm was and how they should be doing weddings full time. The Shepherd family converted the tobacco-cattle barn into a reception barn with all the amenities; bathrooms, kitchen, and electricity. The Shepherd family painstakingly rehabbed and recycled all of the materials in both barns to enhance and preserve the authenticity of the buildings. After converting the Tobacco Barn, they booked 24 weddings and then the next year they booked 38 weddings. In 2016, they decided to expand the business and build a year-round building, Keith Glen, in another location of the farm. Burdoc Farms hosts 60 to 80 weddings a year with couples coming from all over the country and a few from overseas!

Duck Pond Manor was originally known as the England Mansion. The mansion’s building process began in 1861(according to family stories). The house was finally completed Dec 27, 1867. This 5000 sq ft mansion was built using bricks fired in a kiln right in the farm. The original Apple House still stands behind the mansion.

The Loving is a historically black church renovated into a modern and intimate event space. Our wedding packages all include ballroom, outdoor ceremony space and/or deck with tables, chairs, additional tables for food and cake if needed, cocktail tables and table linens (table cloths, chair covers, napkins) clean up and set up and at least two people on site for assistance day of. It also includes access to bar and a Bartender is provided (alcohol is BYOB.) Includes bluetooth sound system as well with microphones.
