The oldest commercial vineyard and winery in Arizona, Sonoita Vineyards was started in 1974, opened in 1983 and now includes over 30 acres of vines. Aided by the unique growing conditions of the Sonoita Appellation (AVA – American Viticultural Area), the winery consistently creates award winning wines, including a Cabernet Sauvignon chosen by national wine critics to serve at a Presidential Inauguration Gala. Perched at an elevation of 5,000 feet among rolling grasslands, the vineyard is surrounded on three sides by soaring mountain ranges. The staff is small making each vintage of wine a one of a kind experience. The small staff does all the production and vine care under the guidance of Lori Reynolds, our Winemaker and granddaughter to our founder Dr. Gordon Dutt and Robi Reynolds, our Vineyard Manager.

Los Portales is an event venue near El Paso, TX built in 1932. It is an adobe building with history in the vineyard area of the upper valley of the Rio Grande, along the old route to Mesilla, also known as Don Juan de Oñate route. Initially it was a women’s club in the 40’s and 50’s, a place of reunions, politics and community center. Later, it became a church for over 20 years. After the church moved out, it was abandoned for many years. Now it re surges after extensive remodeling, taking into consideration its historical value, the structure of the building and authentic antique value, as a new option for intimate family events, in a rustic and country feel for any event.

From the moment we reached out to Los Portales, the owners and staff were incredibly flexible, attentive and sweet in helping us plan our dream wedding. On the day, their beautiful, elegant and classy venue provided the perfect backdrop for our special celebration. They were so supportive the day before, letting us add extra personal touches to the space. And the day-of, the staff guided us seamlessly through our timeline, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The owners and staff are truly the most understanding, patient and supportive people we've ever worked with - they went above and beyond to make our wedding day absolutely perfect. We can't recommend Los Portales enough!

Why pour a year of planning into 4 hours? Sunday morning, you are on the deck in PJs, coffee going, somebody still talking about the toast. That is the part couples remember most. It is also the part most weddings never get to. Picture Friday. Your family arrives early & claims their beds. Somebody's uncle starts a fire before anyone asks him to. The light drops behind the oaks & the whole weekend feels like it has already begun. Apache Oaks is 25 private acres outside Patagonia, AZ, at 5,300 feet, wrapped by Coronado National Forest. For 50 years it was a children's church camp. The original pews are still here. That is where your guests sit for your vows. When the music stops there is guitar at the fire pit & more stars than anyone expected. Then everyone walks to bed. Nobody calls a car. 25 sleep indoors, room for tents & RVs. Commercial kitchen & screened barn. Bring your own caterer, photographer & music. One group at a time. Come early. Stay late. We mean it.

Apache Oaks is a refreshing break from the identical chain hotels I stay at for work, offering a peaceful experience that begins with the drive down as traffic fades and the landscape transforms. I visited with my teenage daughter for a nature focus bonding weekend, and it was exactly what we needed; a uniquely decorated Southwest style room with incredibly comfortable beds, quiet time outdoors, without electronics, long walks, cornhole, and stunning views. The brightest highlight was the night sky.- stars of vivid they reminded me of my childhood in Northern Wisconsin. Our stay at Apache Oaks was memorable, meaningful and an absolute place we plan to return.
