โWhile looking for hair and makeup vendors, Iโve followed a lot on Instagram. I wanted a team who knew how to work with Asian hair and features. Windy City Glam was one of them. I wasnโt sure as far as my budget, but I knew I wanted to book ASAP and Iโm so glad I did.
I got on a call with Cathy and we talked about the standard things, how I normally wear my makeup, what products I normally use, how to prep my skin, if I had any ideas on how I wanted to wear my hair, stuff like that. She also listened to my concerns based off of past experiences with getting makeup done and it not holding up through the night based off of the application. I really felt as ease after getting off that call.
My trial was 3 months before the wedding date and I got paired with Jean. How was it possible that I met my hairstylist/MUA and she knocked it out of the park. I just met this woman and she was able to work her magic on me! I took a walk in the neighborhood to get some food afterwards and apparently put my hair and makeup through the test of nature. It was so hot and wind was blowing left and right, everything stayed in tact! Which is so important to me since the wedding was going to be in July.
The team reached out to me and asked if I wanted to get my hair/makeup done for the rehearsal or post wedding day. I was so sad that I overbooked myself and couldnโt make time. Fortunately, I was able to get my hair done for my bridal shower.
I wanted to do something different because I didnโt want anyone to know what my wedding hair was going to look like. Jean listened to what I wanted to do and was able to do my hair beautifully. My hair was so nice, my friends who knew I wanted to do a half up half down, told me to reconsider and do an updo instead!
I prepped my skin using their guide, and letโs be honest. I wanted to listen to everything Windy City Glam told me, because I wanted my hair and makeup to sit right, but it will only happen if I did my part in taking care of my skin and hair.
Come the day of the wedding, Jean was early which personally to me means a lot. As soon as I sat in the chair, she asked me if I wanted to change things up from our first hair trial and I ended up making some minor adjustments. The makeup process was pretty similar, but honestly, had full faith in her. Iโve never felt so beautiful in my own skin. Looking in the mirror gave me that reassurance that I was pretty all along, it really spoke true to who I am and she did such a great job highlighting that.
I also want to point out that while we were getting ready in the morning, Jeanโs calmness and her passion, really put myself to ease. Not that I had any doubt in the hair/makeup, but I was just anxious all week. Watching her work on me, my family, I was just in awe which distracted me from the wedding jitters.
My hair and makeup stayed in tact throughout the day, aside from me sobbing during the emotional parts, but nothing a little touch up canโt do.
I cannot recommend having Windy City Glam enough, especially Jean, sheโs so great and fun to work with. I wish our journey together never have to end. Book this team, you will not regret it.โ
