I'm an artist by nature. I love photography, but I also love to paint. Growing up I could color for hours. I come from one of those families where everyone is passionate. When my son was born I picked up a camera and embarked on a challenge to learn as much as I could about digital photography. From the moment you arrive at Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel, you experience our warm and thoughtful welcome. Set alongside tranquil wetlands, a cascading waterfall, and a profusion of green, we provide a rare and soothing calm. This is not your typical convention hotel. Our façade faces two ponds, each shooting a waterjet fountain into the air. Upon a watery channel extending the length of the hotel stands Chronos, a stunning stainless-steel sculpture forged by John Portman and named for the Greek god of space. At first glance, this brilliant piece of art – resembling the crumpled piece of paper that inspired it – appears as a sphere of interlocking metal planes. But it is equally composed of open space, a theme we echo in the airiness of our hotel. A pair of massive curved rails reaches out from our entrance like two arms embracing the whole scene – and embracing you in the spirit of our Midwestern hospitality.
