In 1910, President Taft signed the bill to establish Glacier National Park as the country’s 10th national park. Mr. Healy was given a plumbing contractor for the train depot here in St. Paul, where he met Samuel Bartlett, the architect of many of the railroad depots and Glacier National Park Lodge. Healy then commissioned Bartlett to renovate and enlarge the house. In 1914, the farm was sold to John Healy, the owner of Healy Plumbing and Heating Company of St. Paul. Mr. Healy’s company became closely tied to the Great Northern Railroad, as it provided the heating and plumbing for many of the train depots that were being built around the country at that time. The farm was named Hope Glen Farm, the name of John Healy’s mother’s maiden name of Hope, and the house settles in a Glen, thus Hope Glen.

Reeds & Rushes is a re-imagined, five and a half acre lakeside property in the charming town of Howard Lake. Between the multiple outdoor gathering areas and dock situated on Mallard Pass Lake, and our modern-Scandanavian inspired 7,500 square foot building, you'll have plenty of options when it comes to your all-day wedding or event. Say your "I Do's" outside with a beautiful lakeside back drop or inside in our vaulted ceiling Great Hall. Circulation areas include our Fireside Hall and outdoor patio space with lighted pergolas. North Star Farm Event Center is a beautiful venue overlooking the Minnesota River Valley, located between the Twin Cities Metro and Mankato. Surrounded by oak trees and rolling fields, our historic farm blends timeless charm with modern touches for a truly magical wedding day. Venue pricing ranges from $6,000–$8,000+, depending on date and season, and includes wedding planning support, tables, chairs, linens, centerpieces, and additional décor (or DIY). Catered meals start at $13.50 per guest, and couples are welcome to bring their own liquor, beverages, snacks, and desserts to help save on costs. Beer and ice are through our affordable off-sale liquor provider. For approximately 200 guests, venue, bar, and meals typically total $10K–$12K, depending on your date (WOW!). The Capitol Room is located in the heart of down town Saint Peter, Minnesota. Originally built in 1913 as an armory; our ballroom proudly boasts the backdrop of exposed brick and plaster underneath the beautiful & original wooden barrel vaulted ceiling, showing off 20 vintage chandeliers and hundreds of Edison bulbs that create a twinkling aura for your special day. We have two amazing suites for the bridal party and an eclectic space for a social hour. These bridal and grooms suites have been carefully curated with a mix of modern and vintage furniture and the walls are covered in funky art that is flirtatious and nostalgic.

We have many amazing options for your ceremony site. There are beautiful locations in the apple trees or around one of our ponds. Our 100+-year-old barn is a classic red and white hip roof barn. Conveniently situated in downtown Howard Lake on Highway 12, it is easily accessible, 35 miles from the Mpls Metro and 16 miles from Buffalo. With a spacious area of 5,000 square feet, South Shore Event Center offers breathtaking views of downtown Howard Lake and the South shores of the lake. The beautifully restored venue, completed in 2019, provides an ideal setting for indoor cocktail and dinner receptions with seating for up to 225 guests.
