If we add a gift from another store onto Zola, how does it work?

Adding a gift from another store is easy by using the Add to Zola button on our iOS app or under 'Manage Registry'.

When adding a gift from another store, it will appear on your Zola registry just like any other gift. The main difference is that, when a guest buys the gift, they’ll be redirected to that store’s site to complete the purchase. Once they’ve done that, they can return to Zola to mark the gift as “purchased”.

Please note that if this same item is available on Zola's site, we may swap it for the Zola item and update your registry accordingly. All Zola items will be subject to applicable Zola prices and policies, including our Price Matching Policy.

When you are directing your guests to the store's website to make the purchase, here are some good things to know: You won’t get the benefits Zola offers, like choosing when this gift is sent or making it a group gift.

  • You won’t be able to exchange, return, or redeem the cash value through Zola
  • The purchaser of your gift will be given your shipping address by Zola
  • If this same item is available on Zola's site, we may swap it for the Zola item and update your registry accordingly.

The other option when adding a gift from another store is you can receive the cash equivalent for that gift. This means you can transfer the cash to your linked bank account, and purchase it on your own at a later date.

If you are requesting the cash equivalent:

  • Make sure tax and shipping is included in the price
  • Your guests will check out on Zola, and this can be a group gift
  • You can choose when to transfer the cash into your bank account
