About Mitch Larson Productions

Mitch Larson Productions

Super 8 Videography

📖 Documenting your special day with Super 8 short films 🎥 Blending cinematic, documentary, and editorial videography styles into something that is authentic and unique to you 🎞️ Always on film 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 Everyone is welcome here 📍 NJ | PA | DE | NYC | Destination 🌎

You are a unique couple, and the video of your big day should reflect that. I also strive to make sure your video is authentic to you. I don't use AI, I don't open every video with a similar drone shot, or meticulously pose you. I don't reuse the same cuts, transitions, or music cues. Every single video is a personal love letter from me to you. I shoot exclusively on Super 8 to give a nostalgic, romantic, and vintage feel to your short film. Many videographers shoot a hybrid of Super 8 and digital when they put together their final video for you. With me, it's always on film all the time.

Audio of Vows & Speeches Add-On

Description

As amazing as Super 8 cameras are, they don't naturally capture sound. Because of this, I am always happy to record speeches and vows for you. They can be delivered as audio files or placed into your video in lieu of licensed music. I always take footage of vows and speeches, regardless of whether this is added on!

Film Photography Add-On

Description

In addition to shooting videos on Super 8, I am also a film photographer and love to capture candid, documentary-style stills. I am happy to bring my cameras along for the day and take photographs throughout the day to supplement what guests and your photographer capture. **This is meant to supplement another photographer, and not be in place of them.**

    Incredible!!!

Mitch created the most beautiful wedding video for us. It looks wonderful and we watch it so often! 10/10 highly recommend. He used genuine super 8 film for an unparalleled vintage feel. His style gives an authentic “home movie” aesthetic, while also still deftly capturing the important moments. Mitch himself is a competent professional and is extremely knowledgeable about film. He was ready to collaborate and make suggestions or just go with the flow if that’s what we needed. His coverage at the ceremony felt seamless, and despite a hectic day on our end, he captured everything perfectly. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. He got everything we wanted AND several one of a kind shots we wouldn’t have thought of. We will most definitely be utilizing his services again for future events and have already recommended him to friends for more weddings. Not that we needed to, once they saw the video they wanted more!

Thank you so much, Vincent! I LOVED working on your wedding. Nothing better than an outdoor New York wedding in the fall!!

The best and most collaborative videographer!

As a wedding planner, Mitch is a great videographer to work with! He’s passionate, professional, and collaborative. Super 8 is such a fun addition for a wedding, and Mitch makes each video unique and personal to the couple. It’s clear he truly cares about each couple and does not want to make a standard cookie cutter video, but instead creates a bespoke experience for every event. After working with Mitch on a styled shoot and a wedding, he truly makes everyone comfortable in front of the camera and makes it such a fun experience. Anyone looking for a unique, vintage, cinematic vibe, I recommend Mitch every time!

Thanks so much, Chrissy! I absolutely loved working with you, too!

YES! Traveling is one of my biggest passions, and I would love to film your destination wedding. I am based in Merchantville, NJ (about 10 minutes outside of Philadelphia), but am willing to travel anywhere.
Absolutely! I would love to film your elopement and am happy to craft a custom package for you that fits your vision and budget.
Of course! Nowadays, many venues require their vendors to have insurance and provide a copy of it in advance of your wedding. I am happy to do this at any time.
Unfortunately, because Super 8 is a type of 8mm film. It needs to go through a development process and be scanned into a computer in order to be seen and then edited together. The turnaround time for me to receive processed negatives and a scan of all the footage is generally 2 - 4 weeks. After which, I'll go through and cut together your video.
As soon as you can! It's not uncommon to book two-three years in advance, so if you'd like to work together and have an idea of your date or have already booked your venue, let's talk!
Thanks for asking! Super 8 is a form of 8mm motion picture film that comes in a cartridge you can load directly into a Super 8 camera. Each cartridge can hold about 2.5 - 3 minutes of footage. Once it’s exposed, it gets developed and scanned into a computer. The end result is footage that feels like an old-school movie. The results are something that looks grainy, imperfect, nostalgic, and above all else romantic. In the era of AI, the human element of shooting a cartridge of Super 8 film, chemically developing the negative, scanning it in, and then meticulously cutting together a final video is a genuine labor of love.
Generally speaking, Super 8 cameras tend to be much older; they don't natively record sound, the lighting conditions are even more important for exposing film than digital, and each cartridge only holds about 2.5 - 3 minutes of footage. I also try to give couples a heads up that, because the motor is transporting film through the camera to expose it, you can hear the gears turning when it's in use. But we have backups and solutions in place to mitigate any of those potential issues. Everything mentioned above is also precisely why I love to shoot Super 8 for weddings. It really comes down to what style or type of wedding video you want.
This is entirely up to you. You'll receive a private link to watch the video online and a physical copy mailed to you. So, it's up to you to decide who can see it. Typically, my contract includes the ability to share your video on social media. However, I never post anything until after you've received your video and had at least a week to sit with it. However, all of that is negotiable if you'd prefer it to be private.
Just me. I don't send out my work to be edited externally, my second shooter, or by another videographer. I feel strongly that, to create something authentic and genuine for you, I also need to edit the footage.
I'll be at every wedding that I book, no matter what. I also have a talented, trusted, and all-around fantastic second shooter who generally comes with me. However, for more intimate weddings where less coverage is needed, it may just be me. We will talk about all of this during your creative vision call, and it will never be a surprise how many videographers will be on site during your wedding.
Possibly! I hate to be ambiguous, but it will depend on a few factors. Are you moving everything inside the venue or at least a tent? Will you be trying to keep everything outside? How heavy is the rain? One of the things that film needs to have a proper exposure is light. Similarly, depending on the intensity of the rainfall, it can damage the cameras or film. That said, it is possible, especially if the event moves inside.
Sadly, no, at least not natively. However, we can absolutely record sound externally. I've recorded speeches and vows on separate mics and added them into the video. If you want the look and feel of Super 8 while still being able to hear some of the highlights or have an audio recording of the the speeches or vows, we can absolutely make that happen.
