About Bess Ophelia Films

Bess McCulloch

CEO + Lead Videographer

First things first - you should know that I’m a Cancer sun, moon, and rising - which basically means I’m one of the most emotional people you will ever meet. That’s why being your wedding videographer is the perfect job for me. Emotion drives every aspect of my storytelling because my goal is to give you a wedding film that is totally personal, unique, and genuine - just like your love story. I’ve been shooting video for about ten years. After getting my BFA in film production, I worked in the commercial video world, on music videos, covered live events, but my heart lies in the wedding industry.

I love how personal this job can be and I truly treasure the relationships that I get to build with my clients. The fact that you’re trusting me to authentically tell your story is a responsibility that I don’t take lightly. So, if you’re looking someone who is going to be just as invested as you are, who is going to put you and your needs first, who will cheer you on as you make out with your person in the sunset, and who will dance with you at your reception (Dancing Queen is my favorite - just FYI), then let’s do this thing!

My highlight films run anywhere between 5-10 minutes in length. I structure my films based on the key emotional moments that occur on your wedding day, such as first looks, speeches, vows/letters, etc. My top priority is telling your love story honestly and meaningfully.
Full day coverage does NOT mean that I will be with you for 12+ hours on your wedding day, because that’s typically unnecessary. What it DOES mean is that you will have the freedom to plan your timeline without worrying about how many contracted hours you booked me for. When your timeline is finalized, I'll talk with you/your planner to figure out when is best for me to arrive and depart.
Of course! All of my grooms usually drool over the drone footage. However, if your wedding or elopement is in a national park, near a military base or airport, in a no-fly zone, or on a day that we’re experiencing unfortunate weather, I will not be able to fly.
Unfortunately, no, but I strongly believe it’s for the better. Picking music is a huge part of my creative process, as it’s really the driving force behind your film. I use that as my inspiration as I start my music search, while also making sure my choices reflect who I am as an artist.
2-4 months, depending on which season your wedding falls in. I usually have a high volume of weddings in the spring/fall months as opposed to the summer/winter months and I try to edit all of my films in the order that they were shot to make sure everyone gets to see their film as quickly as possible.
For all weddings more than 100 miles from DFW, there will be a $750 travel fee added to whichever package you choose. I will handle all necessary travel accommodations myself so that it’s one less thing you have to worry about while planning your day. (International travel will be decided on a case by case basis.)
I require a signed contract and 25% of the total cost up front as a security deposit. The remainder is due any time on/before the day of the wedding to give you some flexibility in how you pay. Some people like to pay that all as one lump sum, some like to give me a check day of, and some prefer structured payment plans. Just let me know what’s right for you and we’ll make it happen!
Definitely! Even though I'm based in Texas, I'm always available for destination weddings worldwide. Check my website to see if your wedding location falls on my bucket list for a special discount!
